  • Patent number: 10404858
Abstract: A Short Message Service Center (SMSC) receives a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message transferred User Equipment (UE). The SIP message has a Private Access Network Information (PANI) header with geographic data for the UE and also has a Short Message Service (SMS) message from the UE. The SMSC determines when a destination code from the SMS message indicates an emergency SMS message. When the emergency SMS message is indicated, the SMSC transfers an emergency Short Message Peer-to-Peer (SMPP) message for delivery to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) gateway. The emergency SMPP message has the geographic data for the UE and also has the emergency SMS message. The PSAP gateway selects a PSAP for the UE based on the geographic data in the SMPP message and transfers the emergency SMS message to the selected PSAP.

  • Patent number: 10390289
Abstract: System and methods are provided to create representations of geographic areas. Such representations enable users to search for items and services of interest and to quickly locate and utilize such items and services. Representations are created using user preferences thus reducing the amount of information presented to a user, i.e., user preferences control the contents of a representation. Control APIs contained within a representation may be used to control devices represented in a representation or to manufacture them using 3-D printing technologies. Methods to learn user preferences via his movements and other actions and impose a user's preferences upon an environment are shown. Some details of the invention are described by applying the invention to problems in retail marketing and figures depicting an implementation illustrate certain aspects of the invention.

  • Patent number: 10371790
Abstract: In order to accurately determine the location of an electronic device in an environment, a computer selects a set of received-signal-strength (RSS) values based on wireless communication between the electronic device and access points in sub-regions of the environment. This set includes a largest RSS value associated with a sub-region and at least two RSS values associated with neighboring sub-regions. Then, the computer calculates pairwise distance estimates of the location of the electronic device in the environment based on predefined locations of the access points associated with the set, one or more differences of pairs of RSS values in the set and a predetermined path-loss factor in the environment, where a given pair of RSS values includes the largest RSS value and one of the at least two RSS values. Furthermore, the computer determines the location of the electronic device in the environment based on the pairwise distance estimates.

  • Patent number: 10356625
Abstract: A concept of having at least one representative access node for inter-operator interactions for spectrum sharing between a first operator's network and one or more further operators' networks is introduced, the representative access node being discoverable by a discovery procedure performed by access nodes. According to an example implementation, a method or technique may include performing a discovery procedure for discovering one or more representative access nodes for inter-operator interactions for spectrum sharing between a first operator's network and one or more further operators' networks, and causing a transmission of results of the discovery procedure to a controlling entity.

  • Patent number: 10356679
Abstract: A technique is disclosed to minimize service interruption at a wireless user equipment device during a handover by maintaining dual active connections during the handover. Upon initiating the handover, an initial/first connection with a first access node is maintained while establishing a second connection with a second access node. The user equipment device can receive data over the first connection and second connection during the handover. The first connection may be terminated (by the user equipment device or by timing out due to inactivity) after the handover is completed. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 10321269
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods for selecting a base station or a set of base stations for RTT measurements, or other interactive radio localization technique, to determine a position fix of a device are presented. The method imposes a processing load on only inactive or less active base stations. Busy or busier base stations are not used in the interactive radio localization technique. By imposing a processing load on only less active base stations, transmitting devices may be under loaded and encounter a more uniform processing delay, and thus provide a more accurate measurement resulting in a more accurate position fix.

  • Patent number: 10306640
Abstract: A basic bandwidth wireless local area network (WLAN) device or station (STA) is assigned to a secondary channel. The basic bandwidth STA may be a 20 MHz STA. On the secondary channel, the basic bandwidth STA operates in a wideband mode recovering received data transmitted from an access point (AP) as part of a high bandwidth physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU). The STA and the AP can be members of a basic service set (BSS). The high bandwidth PPDU may be, for example, a 40 MHz, 60 MHz, or 80 MHz PPDU. Once on the secondary channel, the STA relies on the AP to perform channel sensing and scheduling activities, thus reducing power consumption at the STA and increasing the efficiency of the BSS. Several signaling formats are provided for indicating the secondary channel that the STA is assigned to or requests to move to.
