Abstract: An anti-counterfeiting pattern having an optically variable structure, comprising lithographic lines and gravure blind embossed relief lines printed on a carrier. The lithographic lines are a set of lithographic curve lines having a curvature, the widths of the lithographic curve lines changing from thick to thin, or thin to thick. The gravure blind embossed relief lines are a set of curve lines corresponding to the lithographic lines, and having the same curvature. The relief lines are overprinted on the lithographic lines with a width variation identical to that of said lithographic lines. Accurate overprinting of the two printing types forms a curved relief structure wherein the width of the lines changes continuously. When a printed product is rotated and observed, a continuously variable optical effect will be seen, which is visual, readily to identify, anti-copying and difficult to forgery.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for separating first and second abutting frame sections of an assembled canvas frame. The device comprises first (1) and second (2) plate members, wherein the first plate member (1) is adapted for insertion into a groove in the first frame section of the assembled frame, and the second plate member (2) is adapted for insertion into a groove in the second frame section of the assembled frame. The first and second plate members (1, 2) are interconnected and the first plate member (1) is moveable in relation to the second plate member (2). Movement of the first plate member (1) results in separation of the frame sections. The present invention further comprises a method for separating first and second abutting frame sections.

Abstract: The present invention relates to children's books and, more particularly, to a book with a mechanical sound producing component that is integral to the book. The book includes at least one page having a page frame component and a movable page component that is movable with respect to the page frame component. A movable sound producing component is attached with one or both of the page frame component and the movable page component, such that the movable sound producing component is positioned between the page frame component and the movable page component. The movable sound producing component is movable with respect to the page frame component, such that movement of the movable sound producing component causes the movable sound producing component to movably engage with one or both of the page frame component and the movable page component to create a mechanically produced sound.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for applying a ghost image to an identification document that include the actions of obtaining a first image of an object. Identifying a first portion of the first image that corresponds with the object and a second portion of the first image that does not correspond with the object. Generating a second image by converting the first image to a negative image, and removing the second portion of the first image that does not correspond to the object. Generating a halftone image from the second image. Causing optically variable media to be applied to the identification document based on the halftone image. The optically variable media has a first appearance when viewed from in reflected light at a first angle and a second, different appearance when viewed in reflected light at a second, different angle.

Abstract: There is described a security element (EL) or document (BN), such as a banknote, comprising (i) a substrate (S) with first and second sides (I, II) and exhibiting at least one window region (W) made of a substantially transparent material, (ii) a micro-optical structure (OP) provided on the first side (I) of the substrate (S) and extending over at least a part of the window region (W), and (iii) a printed feature (P1-P3) printed on the second side (II) of the substrate (S) over at least a part of the window region (W), the printed feature (P1-P3) being provided in register with the micro-optical structure (OP) to produce an optically-variable effect (EF) upon looking at the printed feature (P1-P3) from the first side (I) of the substrate (S) through the micro-optical structure (OP) and the window region (W).

Abstract: A journal book including wet erase pages releasably bound between a front cover and a back cover. The back cover includes an extension extending past the pages and beyond a corresponding front edge of the front cover. A pen catch is formed in the extension to hold a wet erase pen to the journal, adjacent to the pages opposite a binding. The pen is clipped on the pen catch with a portion of the extension between a pen clip and a pen body.

Abstract: An anti-counterfeiting structure includes a substrate having a surface, and an device structure positioned on the surface. A side opposite to the side on which the substrate is positioned with respect to the device structure is an observation side, and the device structure comprises an optical device layer that emits predetermined light towards the observation side, and an information portion that contains given information. The information portion comprises a first substance having optical transparency, wherein the first substance is changeable to a second substance having a different optical characteristic from the first substance by laser irradiation, and the second substance representing information. The device structure has a display surface that is a surface opposite to the surface on which a surface of the substrate, and is configured so as to display information contained in the information portion via the display surface.

Abstract: A tab system for a folder (10a), and a method of making same is disclosed. The tab is enlarged to carry more information/indicia. The visual indicia space (16a), i.e. the viewable space on the front (32a, 36a) of the folder which allows viewing of the enlarged tab is achieve without violating the overall size restrictions (40a) of the file folder. Instead, the front of the folder adjacent to the tab on the back panel, is cut away (32a,34a) to expose a greater portion of the back panel (14a) and allow an increase in visual indicia space. The remaining portion of the front panel, not adjacent to the tab may also be cut away (34a) to allow other enlarged tab files, with offset tabs,(22, 21a) to be viewable behind the present file.
