  • Patent number: 6685603
Abstract: An exercise apparatus for inverting a human body is disclosed to include a base, two support struts, and a body-inverting mechanism. The two support struts are correspondingly mounted on the base and extend upwardly and slightly forwardly from the base. A connecting strut interconnects top ends of the two support struts. The connecting strut is disposed with a main post at the middle section thereof. The two support struts and the connecting strut together form a U-frame, which leans slightly forwardly toward the base. The body-inverting mechanism includes a seat assembly and a leg engaging assembly and is pivotally mounted on said main post so as to pivot through a limited angle. The U-frame leans slightly forwardly such that a user can do a body rotation exercise forward and backward as well as leftward and rightward with little limitation.

  • Patent number: 6685607
Abstract: An exercise device is configured to provide adjustable resistance to the motion of a user exercising with the exercise device. The exercise device includes a frame that at least partially supports an operable assembly. Cooperating with the operable assembly is a resistance assembly that provides a resistance adjustable by the user of the exercise device. The resistance assembly includes an actuating assembly that engages with a pivoting arm. The actuating assembly includes a handle mechanism that is simple to operate and enables a user to easily select a desirable resistance level. A connecting member of the actuating assembly extends from the handle mechanism to a resistance member. Movement of the operable assembly moves the arm toward a fixed end of the resistance member. The connecting member temporarily lengthens the resistance member, while the resistance member inhibits such movement and provides resistance to the exercising user's motion.

  • Patent number: 6682466
Abstract: A shoulder press machine is provided having a seat, a backrest and a fixed framework at the top of which a carriage is mounted. The carriage has a pair of downwardly and forwardly extending, diverging lever arms which are tied together and moved upwardly and downwardly along a horizontal pivot axis mounted to the framework behind the backrest. As the lever arms are moved together upwardly, they are simultaneously swung inwardly about a first pair of parallel, pivot axes, the swinging motion being transferred via a pair of connector linkages to pivot the lever arms about a second pair of pivot axes defined by a pair of frame knuckles at the back end of the frame. As a result of these linkages, a shoulder press machine is provided in which the lever arms are moved in inwardly curved, converging planes from a lowermost location to an uppermost location in such a way that the rate of convergence decreases as the lever arms are raised to a point of substantially no convergence.
