  • Patent number: 4744471
Abstract: A telescoping, adjustable-length rigid rod for mounting between opposing surfaces, such as the opposing interior walls of a swimming pool, for retaining a cover or the like in position is provided. An elongated tubular structure comprised of a number of telescoping tube sections biased apart by springs forms a rigid rod for compressibly mounting between opposing surfaces. The rod is provided with a locking handle which, in the locked position, expands the telescoping sections lengthwise thus forcing the ends of the rod against the opposing surfaces to prevent removal.

  • Patent number: 4732175
Abstract: A surge suppressor for dampening undesired pressure surges in a fluid handling system and using a tubular, elastomeric diaphragm disposed in a hollow chamber of a housing to separate the chamber into two isolated zones, one being exposed to the fluid exhibiting undesired pressure surges and the other being pressurized with a compressible fluid. This arrangement obviates problems caused by wrinkling or folding of the generally planar diaphragm used in prior art pulsation dampeners.

  • Patent number: 4716938
Abstract: A plug coupling for providing a pressure-sealed connection to a device provided with a connecting member comprising a cylindrical housing; a piston shiftable within the housing clamping jaws connected to the piston and concentrially arranged around the longitudinal axis of the housing and radially displaceable by means of a ramp arrangement by an axial movement of the piston relative to the housing; pressure is applied to said piston for moving it in longitudinal direction of the housing thereby pressing the clamping jaws radially inwards or outwards by means of said ramp arrangement. The free ends of the clamping jaws are moved into an engaging position for engagement with said connecting member.

  • Patent number: 4715070
Abstract: A flotation pool blanket for covering a swimming pool adapted to be gathered when removed, said flotation pool blanket defining a blanket covering the water of the pool having at spaced intervals, parallel ribs underlying the blanket, the ribs at each end rising up to form ears which overlap and engage the top of the pool decking surrounding and defining the pool. Further, the ears provide means by which the flotation pool blanket may be gathered up for removal by starting at one end, picking up the rib, proceeding to the next rib and repeating the step until all the ribs have been picked up at which time the blanket and the ribs carried to a position away from the pool. Emplacement of the invention pool blanket is just the opposite of removal, the operators dropping one end of the flotation pool blanket in the pool and then proceeding to let out a rib as they traverse the length of the pool.

  • Patent number: 4706310
Abstract: The invention is directed to a liquid level control system which can be installed within an automatic pool reservoir surface skimmer or separately within or external of the reservoir which includes a primary float valve which allows liquid to flow into a pool reservoir when the level of fluid in the reservoir falls below a first predetermined level and a secondary float valve associated with the primary flow valve which shuts off the flow of liquid into the pool reservoir when the level of the liquid exceeds a second predetermined level which is higher in elevation than the first predetermined level. The primary float valve continually operates between open and closed states. The secondary valve is normally in an open state and when caused to change to a closed state remains in a closed state until manually reset. A flow valve is included which terminates flow from the source of the liquid under pressure to the reservoir through the liquid level control system when a normally expected flow rate is exceeded.
