  • Patent number: 4681004
Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming disks or other articles from flexible sheet material. The disks can be used, for example, as substrates of magnetic recording disks known as floppy disks. The apparatus includes an upper die plate shiftably mounted above a lower die plate and having a die thereon so that a strip of material moveable between the die plates can be sequentially die-cut to form the disks. The upper die plate has quick release latches attaching the upper die plate to a support so that, when the latches are retracted, the upper die plate can be quickly and easily removed from the apparatus to permit the die to be sharpened or replaced. The apparatus includes air delivery ports near the upper and lower die plates to direct air under pressure against a disk after it has been die-cut from the strip so that the disk will be moved laterally and into a chute and onto a spindle which receives a stack of the disks.

  • Patent number: 4668136
Abstract: A device for "dressing" welding electrode tips is disclosed. The device utilizes an integrally formed air motor, retained within a housing member, to drive a gear train which rotates the welding tip cutters. The air motor is actuated by relative longitudinal movement, in either direction, between the housing member and a carriage member which acts as the base for the device. The longitudinal axis of the air motor is parallel to the direction of travel of the housing member with respect to the carriage member thus eliminating the need for bevel gears in the gear train.

  • Patent number: 4662255
Abstract: A paper salvage attachment assembly of a paper cutter utilizes a horizontally reciprocable infeed conveyor assembly having an endless conveyor belt which fees bound products to a position beneath the cutting blade of a paper cutter assembly. An outfeed conveyor and stop bar assembly supports the bound product during severance of the spine from the found product. An adjustably positionable stop bar assembly is used to position the vertically reciprocable stop bar at a point downstream of the cutting blade to properly position the bound product so that only its spine will be severed. As the spine is out, the infeed conveyor assembly is retracted away from the paper cutter so that the severed spine may fall through the thus created gap and onto a scrap take away conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4658468
Abstract: A door check wherein a housing is affixed to the pivotable panel and a guide rail is affixed to the frame of a door. The housing contains a shaft which is rigidly connected with one end of an arm the other end of which is slidably guided by the rail. The shaft carries a disc cam having two asymmetric sections one of which is tracked by a spring-biased follower tending to return the panel to its closed position and the other of which is tracked by the piston of a damper which yieldably opposes the movement of the panel back to its closed position. The configuration of the two cam sections is selected with a view to allow for a reduction of the resistance which the follower offers to opening of the door shortly after the panel leaves its closed position as well as to ensure that the damper can operate independently of the follower and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 4653367
Abstract: Two pairs of opposed feed rolls are rotatably mounted on the upstream and downstream sides, respectively, of a bar cutting mechanism with respect to the predetermined traveling direction of the bar. Each feed roll pair comprises a fixed feed roll on one side of the bar and a movable feed roll on the other side, with the movable feed roll being movable toward and away from the fixed feed roll. A drive mechanism constantly rotates each pair of opposed feed rolls, so that the bar is fed only when being pressed against the fixed feed roll by the movable feed roll. The feed roll pair on the downstream side of the cutting mechanism is further jointly movable laterally of the path of the bar against the force of a spring for lessening the load exerted thereon, and for preventing the bending of the bar, when the bar is being cut by the cutting mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4653359
Abstract: Structural improvement of electric screwdriver with respect to the torsion adjustment thereof, incorporating a torsion mechanism having outer threads in the anterior shell in coordination with a hollow-set torsion adjustment lid having correspondingly provided inner threads, so that manually imposed rotative feeding of the adjustment lid may force the supporting stem to exert depression on the depression spring through the adjustment disk, resulting in vertical engagement of both the upper and the lower ratchet, also in mortise joint of the torsion stem with the lower ratchet; that activation of a finely-touched switch starts the motor to acquire an increased torque by virtue of the main gear in relation to the vernier gear, eventually setting the torsion stem to rotation while locking the screw or else releasing the same, the torsion adjustment lid permissive of multiple-shifted helic adjustments with precision and convenience. The motor being smooth in running, thereby shortens time and labor in work.
