Room type controls the appearance and content of rooms. A form manages the display of data notes. A form can contain fields for containing data and employ scripts to process and compute data. A page is the basic vehicle for content. Content is created using an or importing content from an external source. A member is also a data note, and each place contains its own member directory. A place is created and managed from a client browser in on-line mode and in offline mode with respect to a replicated copy of the space. Room security is independently managed, and security and aesthetics characteristics of subrooms selectively inherited.

Abstract: A calendar bar utility with a special user interface may be integrated and displayed simultaneously with an electronic mail list inbox. The calendar bar user interface comprises a linear display arranged into multiple, chronologically-arranged, time periods. Upon selection of a specific time period, such as a day, or the current day, subdivisions of the time period, e.g. hours of a day, are displayed in a similar format. The calendar bar also allows multiple calendars, for example the personal calendar of the user, and a team calendar for multiple individuals, to be displayed simultaneously for easy access. Selection of a specific time period causes data associated with any event in that time period to be displayed next to the designated time period, or, alternatively, in a separate window. The data associated with the event may vary in detail and scope depending on the designer preferences, but will typically include the start and end times, the location, topic, type, i.e. call-in, video conference, etc.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for interacting with a user entering information for a computer application. In one general aspect, the invention provides for displaying a pane as a user interface for a user to enter information in a sequence of steps. The pane includes an information entry area, an interactive first step symbol capable of initiating a first step in the sequence, and a first indicator placed after the first step symbol. The first indicator indicates that a selection of a step to follow the first step depends on information received in the first step. A second step is selected to follow the first step using information received in the first step, and the first indicator is removed. An interactive second step symbol capable of initiating the second step is placed after the first step symbol.

Abstract: Ergonomic graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for displaying medical record information obtained from various sources within handheld devices are provided. A GUI for display within a touch screen display of a handheld device includes adjacent first and second portions. A list of patient names is displayed within the first portion of the GUI, along with medical facility location information, means for indicating when new clinical data for a patient is available, means for removing patient names from the displayed list, and means for sorting the displayed list of patient names. A plurality of ergonomically designed GUI controls are displayed within the second portion of the GUI. At least some of the displayed information is responsive to user touching for displaying additional patient information.

Abstract: Methods and systems for creating and rendering skins are described. In one described embodiment skins can be defined as sets of script files, art files, media files, and text files. These files can be used to create new and different skin appearances, layouts and functionalities. The files are organized for use using a hierarchical tag-based data structure, an example of which is an XML data structure. The data structure is processed to provide an object model. The object model can be a scriptable object model that enables script to execute to provide an interactive, dynamic skin that can respond to internal and external events. In one embodiment, a computer architecture used for rendering the skin includes a layout manager that processes an intermediate representation of the XML data structure to provide the scriptable object model. Various components of the scriptable object model can include a script engine for receiving and executing script, and one or more rendering elements.

Abstract: A 3D graphical user interface includes a two-dimensional ground-plane layout representing the relationship between one or more leaf elements of a tree data structure. The interface further includes at least one building-like structure, each of the at least one building-like structure corresponding to a respective one of the one or more leaf elements. Each of the at least one building-like structure provides a summary of media associated with the respective one of the more leaf elements corresponding to at least one building-like structure.

Abstract: An operating system program launch menu, such as a Start menu, provides various mechanisms for a user to quickly and efficiently locate and launch desired data items such as programs, data files, storage locations, and the like. A search box within the program launch menu may be used to quickly locate programs, documents, communications, and other data items. An auto-complete feature may be used, e.g., when the user restricts the locations searched for the user-entered search text. A most commonly used program list may include programs based on various criteria including both frequency of use and recent use, thereby always including a most recently used item. An all programs view may display programs and documents in a hosted-tree view within the original confines of the program launch menu, thereby negating the need to open sub-menus on top of a large portion of the desktop displayed on the display device.

Abstract: A computer system, method, and apparatus for editing an interactive image video tour. The system may include a computer including an image editor for providing a visual program interface for editing an interactive image video tour; a database in communication with the computer containing data associated with a plurality of images comprising a portion of the interactive image video tour; and a viewer in communication with the computer for displaying the plurality of images. The method may include selecting a data file that includes image data and displaying an image associated therewith on a computer, the data file being stored in an image database containing a plurality of images for creating an interactive image video tour; and modifying one aspect of the image data contained in the selected data file. The apparatus may include a computer-readable medium containing instructions for controlling a computer system to perform a method for editing an interactive image video tour.

Abstract: A computer system having a user specified web browsing system for selectively retrieving content from a variety of web sites is disclosed. The web browser of the present invention is configured to track multiple web sites at any given time to determine content updates in these web sites. In one embodiment of the present invention, the web browser automatically periodically checks user specified web sites, detects changes to content at these web sites, filters out unimportant changes and delivers a summary of the changes to the user.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide the ability to navigate, view, and manipulate a collection of digital images utilizing a GUI that has the familiar context of a calendar. Graphical objects representative of digital images are displayed within a particular day displayed in a calendar-based GUI. A user may group digital images into groups, modify the date with which a digital image is associated and perform various other manipulations using embodiments of a calendar-based GUI.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computer accessible medium comprises a plurality of instructions. The plurality of instructions, when executed, present a graphical view of a first computer system configuration and a second computer system configuration. The first computer system configuration comprising a first plurality of computer system resources. Similarly, the second computer system configuration comprises a second plurality of computer system resources. The plurality of instructions, when executed, also provide a mechanism to capture data representing at least a first resource of the first plurality of computer system resources from the first computer system configuration and insert the data in the second computer system configuration. A similar method and computer system are contemplated. In some embodiments, the computer system resources include one or more volumes and mappings to one or more storage devices.

Abstract: A key assignment method assigns large sets of alphabetic and other characters and functions to the keys of a standard numeric keypad for text/data entry on an electronic device. Two letters are assigned in pairs to each key of the standard 12-key keypad in a first character mode, and other symbols, characters, or infrequently used letters are assigned in a second or more optional character modes. A mode selection key is provided to select between the modes. In the first character mode, a keypress of a key selects the first letter of the pair and two keypresses in succession selects the second letter. The letter pairs may be assigned in alphabetic order, except for infrequently used letters, such as ‘Q’ and ‘Z’, or in QWERTY order, or in pairs of a more frequently-used letter with a less frequently-used letter. By comparison to the standard phone keypad layout having an average KPD=2.2, this method can achieve a KPD=1.4 or lower.

Abstract: Systems and methods for displaying network node ports and related information in a network topology display. The user is able to clearly view ports of a connection device in the network and to view additional port information, such as the port type and the port number, for connected and unconnected ports of a network connection device. In addition, the user is able to toggle between a “show ports” mode and a “hide ports” mode for each connection device to view detailed information about the connection device ports or to hide the information in order to simplify the display.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for correcting previously sent messages in a real-time messaging system are provided. With the apparatus and method of the present invention, when a user of an instant messaging client transmits an instant message to another instant messaging client, the user may notice that the message just sent includes an error requiring correction. As a result, the user may activate a correction mechanism of the present invention to correct the instant message previously sent. The activation of the correction mechanism initiates the sending of a control message to the instant messaging client that received the previous instant message or a selected message from an instant message log. This control message is used to generate a notification at the receiving instant messaging client that the sending instant messaging client is in the process of correcting a message.

Abstract: A system and method for directing a data processing system to incrementally process a base table and a materialized view, wherein the materialized view is associated with the base table, and both are stored in the system, is disclosed. The method includes setting integrity of the base table having an identifier identifying data newly load appended to the base table, and placing the identifier into a location if the location does not contain any other identifier identifying any other data newly load appended to the base table. In a preferred embodiment, the materialized view is incrementally refreshed using the identifier.

Abstract: Disclosed is an information display system capable of efficiently browsing items of information related by links. When displaying the information obtained by accessing a network, a plurality of display areas are formed, and plural items of information are displayed in these display areas. In this case, a display history of the information displayed may be stored, and the items of information displayed at the present or in the past may be displayed in a predetermined order in the respective display areas. When a first item of information displayed in a first display area is related to a second item of information, and when given an indication of displaying a second item of information, the second item of information may be displayed in a second display area while keeping the display of the first item of information in the first display area.
