  • Patent number: 10713872
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling access to controlled-environment facility visitations enable and accept requests for visitations with residents of the controlled-environment facility and enable and accept scheduling of visitations with residents of the controlled-environment facility. A matrix barcode is assigned to each scheduled visitation in accordance with such systems and methods, and the resultingly assigned matrix barcode is provided to at least a non-resident taking part in a respective scheduled visitation, and in some implementations, to the resident. The visitation proceeds between the resident scheduled to take part in the scheduled visitation and the non-resident in response to confirmation that the non-resident, and in applicable implementations, the resident, is in possession of the assigned matrix barcode.

  • Patent number: 10699091
Abstract: Systems and methods of operation for an image processor system to process images to locate two-dimensional regions which are likely to contain machine-readable symbol data or text. Such regions of interest (ROIs) may be preserved at full resolution, whilst the contents of non-ROIs are averaged into a single pixel value. Transition densities in an image may be converted into a numeric value. Such transition densities may be indicative of the presence of data of interest, such as textual data and/or machine-readable symbol data. The pixels values for the pixels in the ROIs may be sent to a decoder unchanged (i.e., full resolution), which absolves the decoder from having to perform any ROI location computations. Modified or altered images may be compressed to much smaller size files while maintaining lossless ROIs, which allows for transmission of such images to processor-based devices over a data communications channel in real time.

  • Patent number: 10679019
Abstract: RFID readers may be configured to supply power to tags during frequency hops. When a reader is supplying power to a passive RFID tag via a first RF waveform having a first radio frequency and determines that it is to frequency-hop, the reader may determine whether the tag requires power during the hop. If so, the reader begins (or continues) to synthesize a second RF waveform with a second radio frequency while also synthesizing the first RF waveform, and frequency-hops by transitioning from transmitting the first RF waveform to transmitting the second RF waveform such that the power transmitted during the transition is sufficient for the tag to operate.

  • Patent number: 10672216
Abstract: A system and method for using a mobile device to cause a vending machine to provide access to a product. After a calibration position is established within the mobile device, an accelerometer of the mobile device is used to determine a current location of the mobile device relative to the vending machine resulting from a movement of the mobile device from the calibration position. A product location to mobile device location mapping is then used to determine a one of a plurality of vending mechanisms associated with the vending machine that is to be activated given the determined current location of the mobile device. A signal may then be sent from the mobile device to the vending machine to instruct the vending machine to activate the determined one of the plurality of vending mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 10621562
Abstract: A user is initially registered during a session with a messaging platform through an out-of-band registration communication. When a user attempts to make a payment within the session or within subsequent sessions with the messaging platform or subsequent sessions with different messaging platforms, the user is presented token names representing registered forms of payment within the user's session. The selected token name is mapped outside the session to specific registered payment details and the payment processing is processed on behalf of the user during the session but through out-of-band session communications. Confirmation of payment is then sent back to the user in a session communication.

  • Patent number: 10607442
Abstract: A unified wallet manager (UWM) virtualized as a single virtual service in which all transactions relative to the UWM are treated as immutable facts permanently stored in append-only queues or ledgers from the time of their creation. A rules engine reads conversion requests in request calls to the service, and determines which rule or rules to apply to convert funds from one ledger to another, in the same or different vertically scaled gaming systems. The UWM is a peer of other vertical gaming systems, and the gaming systems access the UWM via an API server and data egresses from the UWM through an ETL process from a database cluster. The immutable queues allow for data reconstruction using any desired data model. The ledger stores funds of many different types, including real money, points, play money, and others. Third parties can integrate with the UWM through an integration hub connected to the UWM.

  • Patent number: 10573111
Abstract: An electronic voting system is described that utilizes printed vote records (PVRs) in which a voter's vote selections are recorded in voter readable characters. Optical character recognition (OCR) techniques may then be utilized to scan the PVR to record the voter's selections. The OCR data is then utilized to generate the cast vote record. Thus, the electronic voting system directly interprets the voter selections from the PVR just as the voter sees the data. In this manner “what you see is what you get” printed vote record data is provided for a voter's viewing and that same data is used to generate the cast vote record.
