  • Patent number: 5816883
Abstract: A fiber optic wand novelty device for children utilizing a caricature illuminated in a constant color with a plurality of optical fibers extending therefrom. A mount for the optical fibers is secured to an illumination device and includes a color pallet so as to cause colored tip illumination of the optical fibers. The holder of the fibers may be of a fixed color and serves to orient the proximal end of the optical fiber bundle directly over the light source. Accordingly, the colored light is conveyed through fibers, with the longitudinal lengths of the fibers producing solid, whitish light. The holder therefore allows the caricature head to be made of a predetermined color and allows for a realistic likeness under normal lighting conditions and a predetermined colorization or illumination when placed in a darkened environment.

  • Patent number: 5816885
Abstract: A deformable toy is provided for generating sounds having variable acoustic characteristics. The toy includes a deformable body which changes shapes depending on external pressure applied to the body and a sound-reproducing device for playing back either prerecorded or newly recorded sounds, music, messages, etc., which have a predetermined playback rate as recorded to the device. The device is responsive to changes in shape of the body to vary the playback rate of the sounds by way of a mechanism of the sound reproducing device which varies the playback rate for the sounds being played back from the sound reproducing device to provide a highly interactive game for children which allows them to creatively alter sounds generated from the toy herein.

  • Patent number: 5807157
Abstract: A device and method for illuminating the interior of a balloon. The device includes an elongated tube that is between three inches and twelve inches in length. A light source, such as an incandescent bulb or an LED, is coupled to one end of the elongated tube. A wire passes through the center of the tube and provides power to the light source. The elongated tube is passed into the collapsible fill conduit of a mylar-type of balloon. The elongated tube supports the light source in the interior of the balloon. The collapsible fill tube collapses around the elongated tube, thereby creating a substantially air impervious seal in between the balloon and the elongated tube. The presence of the wire in the elongated tube enables the light source in the tube to be coupled to a power source outside of the balloon without allowing the air in the balloon from escaping.

  • Patent number: 5803746
Abstract: A human part model is formed by spraying a layer of uncured silicone mixed with a catalyst and a solvent carrier onto the inside of a mould cavity. Next a model base is clamped to the mould and a body of uncured silicone gel mixed with a catalyst injected to fill the mould between the base and the layer. As the silicone layer cures, it adheres to the body of silicone gel, thereby enhancing the life-likeness of the resulting model. A breast cyst model may be formed by adding an elastomeric bulb to the base prior to clamping the base to the mould. The inlet of the bulb is inserted onto a passageway through the base, which passageway has a one-way valve to prevent backflow from the bulb. The hardness and thickness of the bulb is chosen so that it reseals after being needled.

  • Patent number: 5803785
Abstract: A game call is disclosed which includes a bell, a sound generator in communication with the bell, a bellows in communication with the sound generator, and a cap removably attached to the bell to substantially prevent the game call from sounding while the cap is attached to the bell and to prevent debris from entering the game call. To facilitate attachment of the cap to the bell, a groove is formed on the cap interior surface, the groove being sized to interlock with a lip formed on the bell exterior surface to provide a secure interlocking relationship between the cap and the bell. A cap tether which effectively couples the call to the game call is provided to prevent the cap from being lost or misplaced while not attached to the bell.

  • Patent number: 5800238
Abstract: A book wherein one or more of the covers or pages or binding is provided with a track, and a toy figure is movably coupled to the track. For this purpose, the cover(s) or page(s) which attach the toy figure have sufficient structural integrity to support the toy figure and the movement of the toy figure along the track. Preferably, the track is provided along the edge or periphery of a cover or page so that the toy figure may be moved around the periphery of the book even when the book is closed. The toy figure preferably takes the shape of an animal or other creature which is the subject of a story in the book. In this way, a young reader can easily correlate the movable toy figure with the story. The book is particularly useful in encouraging children to read.

  • Patent number: 5791964
Abstract: A ratchet mechanism includes an outer gear having a recess formed therein and an aperture for supporting the gear upon a shaft. The outer wall of the recess defines a plurality of angled facets forming a saw-tooth configuration. A ratchet pawl includes a pair of opposed resilient spring tabs which engage the angled facet saw-tooth combination in one direction of rotation while disengaging in the opposite direction. A second gear is secured to the ratchet pawl and defines an aperture for rotational support upon a shaft. A frame supports the ratchet mechanism in engagement with a pivotally supported drive arm. The drive arm includes a gear segment having a plurality of gear teeth engaging one of the gears of the ratchet mechanism. The drive arm further includes a coupling flange at the opposite end from the gear segment which is securable to a source of reciprocating power. A bevel gear engages the remaining gear of the ratchet mechanism and is rotatably supported upon the frame by a driven shaft.
