Abstract: A Drop Down Menu Program having an Item Selection Program, a Sorting Program, and a Recall Program. The Item Selection Program eliminates the need for the user to hold down the shift key or the control key while making multiple selections. Instead, the user may activate a menu item to highlight it, and activate the menu item again to remove the highlight. The user may also open and close the drop down menu. The Sorting Program organizes the menu items in order of frequency of use. The Sorting Program also provides ascending and descending sort buttons that allow the user to sort the menu items in ascending or descending alphabetical, numeric, or chronological order. The Recall Program creates a recall list of selected menu items when the user activates a recall button. The recall list can be displayed and removed independent of opening and closing actions of the drop down menu.

Abstract: In a method for interacting with a system that includes physical devices that are interfaced with computer software, a graphical representation of a physical device that can be graphically interconnected with a graphical representation of a software module is generated. The graphical representation of the physical device is capable of being represented as either a graphical copy mode representation or a graphical ghost mode representation. On-screen interaction with functionality of the physical device is enabled when the graphical representation of the physical device is in the graphical copy mode representation. A true physical state of the physical device is tracked when the graphical representation of the physical device is in the graphical ghost mode representation. The tracking of the true physical state of the physical device disables on-screen interaction with functionality of the physical device. A dual-mode graphical user interface element for interfacing with a physical device also is described.

In an implementation, a plurality of software agents is personified in a user interface to be selectable as friends in a social network service. Each of the software agents is executable to make one or more recommendations based on criteria of the software agent, respectively. Recommendations made by particular software agents are communicated via user accounts of the social network service that have selected the particular software agents as friends.

Abstract: An improved application sharing system and method are described wherein a display of shared information is constructed such that application artifacts that are of no use to the viewer are not displayed to the viewer. In this way, a greatest possible portion of a viewing area can be used to display document content rather than such artifacts. In an embodiment, the functionality of reducing the display in this manner is engageable and disengageble by a viewing user. In a further embodiment of the invention, the functionality of reducing the display is automatically engaged and disengaged based on actions of a sharing user with respect to the shared information.

Abstract: A method, system, and device for controlling a mobile device with a touch screen are disclosed. According to one embodiment, the mobile terminal includes a touch screen and a controller configured to display a uniform image of a first enclosure and an unlock image of a second enclosure bounded by the uniform image of the first enclosure on the touch screen in response to detection of a contact on the touch screen while the mobile terminal is in a lock state. The controller is further configured to enlarge the unlock image of the second enclosure in accordance with movement of the contact away from an initial position of the contact while the contact on the touch screen is maintained, and to unlock the mobile terminal in response to a release of the contact when the unlock image of the second enclosure is enlarged to reach or exceed the uniform image of the first enclosure.

The brokering service maintains a plurality of rulesets respectively associated with a plurality of individuals. Each ruleset is used to restrict or otherwise control the incorporation of likeness data associated with an associated individual into media presentations, typically through the inclusion of one or more rules configured to define conditions under which the likeness data for the associated individual may or may not be incorporated into a media presentation. The brokering service is capable of responding to requests for selected rulesets for different individuals by communicating the rulesets to various requesting entities.

The visual indicator is movable in the editing window, which has at least two panels and a divider between the panels. A configuration history of the divider including at least one prior location of the divider in the editing window is memorized. An optimization function is defined for determining a new configuration of the divider. The function is invoked responsively to the configuration history of the divider to determine the new configuration of the divider, and a current configuration of the divider is automatically reset on the display to the new configuration of the divider within the editing window.
