  • Patent number: 8760704
Abstract: The system provides for controlling color reproduction of input color image data in a network having nodes (or sites). The system distributes the input color image data from one of the nodes to other nodes, and provides data structures in the network. The system has means for providing color calibration data at each node characterizing output colors (colorants) of the rendering device of the node, and means for producing at each node, responsive to the color calibration data of the rendering device of the node, information for transforming the input color image data into output color image data at the rendering device of the node. The rendering device of each node renders a color reproduction responsive to the output color image data, wherein colors displayed in the reproduction at the rendering device of each node appear substantially the same within the output colors attainable by the rendering devices.

  • Patent number: 8757502
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes a wireless IC chip that processes a high-frequency signal and a feeding substrate including a coil conductor, a plane conductor, and a matching circuit that is connected to the wireless IC chip and that has a predetermined resonant frequency. The coil conductor and the plane conductor are connected to the matching circuit. The wireless communication device, when used by itself, operates as a monopole antenna in which the plane conductor functions as a ground and the coil conductor functions as a radiation element. When a conductive object is in a vicinity of the plane conductor, the plane conductor is coupled to the conductive object, and the wireless communication device operates as a dipole antenna in which the plane conductor and the conductive object function as a first radiation element and the coil conductor functions as a second radiation element.

  • Patent number: 8762852
Abstract: Methods and arrangements involving portable devices, such as smartphones and tablet computers, are disclosed. One arrangement enables a creator of content to select software with which that creator's content should be rendered—assuring continuity between artistic intention and delivery. Another arrangement utilizes the camera of a smartphone to identify nearby subjects, and take actions based thereon. Others rely on near field chip (RFID) identification of objects, or on identification of audio streams (e.g., music, voice). Some of the detailed technologies concern improvements to the user interfaces associated with such devices. Others involve use of these devices in connection with shopping, text entry, sign language interpretation, and vision-based discovery. Still other improvements are architectural in nature, e.g., relating to evidence-based state machines, and blackboard systems. Yet other technologies concern use of linked data in portable devices—some of which exploit GPU capabilities.

  • Patent number: 8761964
Abstract: In a method for controlling an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in a flight space using a computing device, a 3D sample database is created and store in a storage device of the computing device. The computing device includes a depth-sensing camera that captures a 3D scene image of a scene in front of a user, and senses a depth distance between the user and the depth-sensing camera. A 3D person image of the user is detected from the 3D scene image, and gesture information of the user is obtained by comparing the 3D person image with human gesture data stored in the 3D sample database. The method converts the gesture information of the user into one or more flight control commands, and drives a driver of the UAV to control the UAV to fly in a flight space according to the flight control commands.
