  • Patent number: 9990466
Abstract: An inventory management system provided by an inventory management service provider senses removal of medical items from inventory to be dispensed to a patient. The system processes billing information to identify the patient's medical insurance provider, to identify a medical item supplier that is the preferred biller for the patient's medical insurance provider, and to determine whether the inventory management service provider is the identified preferred biller. If the inventory management service provider is the preferred biller, the system generates an invoice from the inventory management service provider to bill the patient's medical insurance provider.

  • Patent number: 9848058
Abstract: A portable source medical device determines communication links of a network presently available to effect communications with a target component when the source medical device is at each of a multiplicity of geographical locations. A profile is generated comprising information about each available communication link and attributes associated with each available communication link for each geographical location. When the source medical device is at a particular geographical location, a profile associated with the particular geographical location is accessed and a network connection is established between the source medical device and the target component using a communication link associated with the particular profile. Medical information is transferred between the source medical device and the target component via the communication link associated with the particular profile.

  • Patent number: 9616247
Abstract: The present application is directed to the idea of using sampling techniques to propagate segmentation uncertainty in order to evaluate variability in radiation planning. A radiotherapy planning apparatus (10) creates diagnostic image data of a region of interest of a subject. Image data from other sources can also be used. The image data is segmented (44) and combined with previously imaged model data. Target measures such as dose volume histograms are produced for each of the segmentations of the image data. These measures are later combined into a statistical quantification of the target measure (FIG. 3). This information is presented (52) to the user to give the user possible outcomes of the radiotherapy plan, and, e.g., confidence levels in those outcomes.

  • Patent number: 9613187
Abstract: Likelihood ratio between a likelihood of belonging to one classification of a key item and a likelihood of belonging to other classification of the key item when a case belongs to each classification of a clinical-information item other than the key item is calculated, based on registration case information for calculating a likelihood ratio, for each classification of a key item. A weighting coefficient corresponding to each classification of the clinical-information item other than the key item for each classification of the key item is determined based on a target classification of a target clinical-information item and the calculated likelihood ratio. A degree of similarity is calculated for each registration case included in registration case information for calculating a degree of similarity by using weighting information corresponding to each classification of the key item and each classification of the clinical-information item other than the key item.

  • Patent number: 8793145
Abstract: Protocol meta-models are made available to a protocol designer. Each protocol meta-model includes a list of preliminary patient eligibility attributes appropriate for a particular disease category. The protocol designer chooses the appropriate meta-model, and encodes the clinical trial protocol, including eligibility and patient workflow, within the selected meta-model. The resulting protocol database is stored together with databases of other protocols in a library of protocol databases. Once a patient is enrolled into a study, the protocol database indicates to a clinician what tasks are to be performed at each patient visit. These tasks can include both patient management tasks and data management tasks.

  • Patent number: 8775197
Abstract: Personalization of access to health or benefit-related information on a computer network is provided based upon a health history of a user. In one implementation, personal health or benefit-related information about the user is obtaining from the user operating a client computer. The health or benefit-related information includes one or more health or benefit-related terms that each corresponds to a health or benefit-related concept. The health related terms provided by the user are correlated with a health terminology thesaurus that is stored on a computer-readable medium, such as at a server remote from the user client. Each of the health or benefit-related terms is associated with a health or benefit-related concept, which has one or more health or benefit-related works associated therewith. The works associated with health or benefit-related concepts are then made accessible over a computer network to the user.

  • Patent number: 8768724
Abstract: A system and method for detecting improper drug use utilizes the morphine equivalency of a drug regimen of a patient having an injury to compare the morphine equivalency of the drug regimen of the patient to that of a peer group having the same diagnosis. The comparison may be conducted based on the aggregate morphine equivalency for respective periods of time following the injury or the initial treatment and based on the rate of change in the morphine equivalency for that or another period of time. Based on the results of the comparison, potential instances of drug fraud and/or drug abuse are identified and an alert is generated, and appropriate action is taken, where needed.
