  • Patent number: 5899616
Abstract: An ergonomic adaptation to a keyboard, including a plurality of pads, or key pillows, preferably formed together into a key pillow tablet. The key pillows either replace or fit over keys of a keyboard to advantageously alter the consistency, texture and/or shape of the traditional keys. In alternative embodiments, each of the key pillows may be formed individually to replace or fit over some or all of the keyboard keys. The key pillow tablet further includes raised pads at the front of the keyboard on which the palms may rest during typing to maintain a satisfactorily low angle of the fingers with respect to the elbow. The adaptation may either be an attachment to a keyboard or may be integrally formed to a keyboard during the keyboard's manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5884561
Abstract: A method of releasing a sheet from a blanket cylinder of a printing machine, wherein the sheet is guided by an impression cylinder and held by grippers thereof, includes moving, with respect to the impression cylinder, elements of the impression cylinder holding the sheet, in a direction relatively counter to the direction of rotation of the impression cylinder, so as to produce an enlarged pull-off angle after a leading edge of the sheet has passed a printing nip between the blanket and the impression cylinders; and a device for performing the foregoing method. The background to the invention is the knowledge that higher tensile forces on a sheet are disadvantageous, and the object was therefore set of making available a method and a device in which the tensile force is reduced. This is achieved by means of a method in which, in order to produce an enlarged pull-off angle (.gamma.

  • Patent number: 5879091
Abstract: An impact printer (30) comprises a printhead (31) traversing along a guide for printing a line on a document (32) of thickness S, and is provided with contrast means for supporting the document (32) against the head (31) and for contrasting the impact force exerted by the latter against the document. The printhead (31) bears a spacing roller (34) which causes the contrast means to yield in order to compensate for thickness S, which varies according to the document (32), and thus maintain the distance D between the head (31) and the document (32) constant. The contrast means comprise a flexible platen (33) attached yieldingly at the ends, of length at least equal to or greater than that of the print line and having a variable section frame so that the pressure generated between the platen (33) and the roller (34) is substantially constant all along the print line.
