Abstract: A system is disclosed for producing ultra-high-molecular-weight (UHMW) poly-alpha-olefins (PAO) for use as pipeline drag reducing agents, having improved thermal efficiency and reduced branching of the PAO. The system comprises hinged pairs of shells, each pair of shells comprising a grid of larger hemispherical voids connected by smaller hemicylindrical passages, arranged in a serpentine pattern along the surface area of the shell. When the hinged pairs of shells are shut, they form a pattern of spherical voids which can be connected to an inlet port, which receives a combination of alpha-olefin monomer feedstock and a titanium trichloride catalyst. A reactor chamber houses a plurality of these hinged pairs of shells, which may slide into slots inside the reactor chamber spaced such that each adjacent hinged pair of shells abuts the outer surface of the next when shut and inserted. The reactor chamber is cooled by an inert gas.
Abstract: This invention relates to a robotic device 10.1, 10.2 and method for handling catalyst material 106, 206 in a reactor 100 by removing spent catalyst from the reactor and/or loading the reactor with fresh catalyst without an operator having to enter an interior of the reactor which increases operator safety. The robotic device includes a body 12, which is configured to engage a flange 104 of the reactor, and a handling arm which is configured for use both as a cleaning arm 18 and a loading arm 218. The handling arm is connected to the body and is angularly and longitudinally displaceable relative to the body. The handling arm has a segment which is telescopically extendible/retractable relative to the body. When used as a cleaning arm, the arm receives a vacuum line for removing catalyst. When used as a loading arm, a telescopic loading sleeve is connected to the segment.

Abstract: The present invention relates, in general, to a system and method for focusing gas distribution through a series of three-dimensionally (3D) printed lattice heating elements within an electric catalyst unit in order to promote ammonia dissociation. The present invention allows gaseous ammonia to be continuously heated as it flows in series through ceramic tubes containing 3D printed lattice heating elements. The lattice structure of the heating elements provides a balance between surface area and heat dissipation, allowing the heating elements to reach a suitable temperature to perform ammonia dissociation, but which are not oversaturated with heat which could result in failure or melting of the heating elements.

Abstract: The present invention is a hand sanitizer, air purification, fogger vehicle mount, or combination thereof, attach to a dashboard of a vehicle. Its purpose is to maximize disinfecting opportunities as a countermeasure to the spread of disease, including COVID-19. As a hand sanitizer, this invention is a hand-free device that minimizes cross-contamination among vehicle patrons during operation. A sensor, activated by hand proximity, sends a signal to a controller, then to a pump to dispense a portion-controlled volume of hand sanitizer. To disinfect airborne antigens, HEPA filtration and UV light are utilized. Pathogen lingering on surfaces are disinfected by a fogger, which dispenses atomized droplets throughout a vehicle. To eliminate exposure to nebulized sanitizer, the controller may receive a wireless signal from outside the vehicle. Independently powered, a vehicle can be sanitized each time it arrives at a destination, made ready to transport the next group of patrons safely.
