Abstract: A permanent waving process is disclosed in which an essential oil is incorporated into hair fibers. The incorporated of the essential oil into the hair fiber not only provides capacity to remove bad odors resulting from freshly permanent waved hair but also gives to the hair a supple and smooth feeling. The essential oil is incorporated in the oxidizing or neutralizing solution of the permanent waving process. The essential oils employed are those containing at least one component, ingredient or constituent having an ethylenically unsaturated bond, i.e.
Abstract: This invention encompasses compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein: one of R.sup.1 or R.sup.2 is nitro and the other is --SO.sub.3 H or COOH; andone of R.sup.3 or R.sup.4 is hydrogen and the other is --NR.sup.5 R.sup.6, where R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 independently are hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, or C.sub.2-4 hydroxyalkyl;or a water soluble salt thereof; hair dye preparations containing the above compounds as substantive hair dyes; and methods for dyeing hair using such preparations.
Abstract: Fabric softener particles comprising an inner core of fabric softening composition and an outer coating completely surrounding said core. The outer coating is substantially water-insoluble and protects the inner core from dissolving when present in a typical fabric laundering operation, but releases the softener composition to the fabrics when the fabrics are dried in a heated dryer.

Abstract: A method of preparing a superconducting oxide by combining the metallic elements of the oxide to form an alloy, followed by oxidation of the alloy to form the oxide. Superconducting oxide-metal composites are prepared in which a noble metal phase intimately mixed with the oxide phase results in improved mechanical properties. The superconducting oxides and oxide-metal composites are provided in a variety of useful forms.

Abstract: A non-homogenized oil-in-water, essentially wax free emulsion cleaner polisher composition that resists phase separation. The composition comprises from about 75 to 99% water, 0.5 to 12% film former, 0.1 to 5% nonionic emulsifier and 0.01 to 0.3% thickener. The composition may be dispensed from pump, trigger or squeeze sprayers. Various methods are also disclosed to formulate the composition.

Abstract: A powdered hair dye includes a dye component included in cyclodextrin. Because of the complex formation, it possesses high stability for longer shelf life, color-fastness and deeper color: and maintains hair in good condition. Because of the powder, it is easy for the manufacturer to control manufacturing and transport. As for the users, it is light weight, easily carried and economical.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for dyeing keratinous fibers characterized in that at least one composition comprising, in a medium suitable for dyeing, 5,6-dihydroxyindole in combination with hydrogen peroxide at a pH of between 2 and 7 is applied to these fibers, the application of said composition being preceded or followed by the application of a composition comprising iodide ions in a medium suitable for dyeing.
Abstract: A method of building a dental appliance and a kit for use in the method are provided. In the method, metal copings are coated with an opague ceramic paste, and a coarse ceramic powder, having structural stability under the conditions needed to fire the ceramic paste, is dusted on the coating of ceramic paste, and the coping is fired. A coated metal coping with a rough, sandpaper like surface is produced, and subsequent layers of ceramic paste are applied to the rough surface to build up the dental appliance. The kit of the invention provides at least one preformed opaque ceramic paste, dusting powders, and other ingredients needed to build a dental appliance.
Abstract: A denture adhesive composition which has improved removability from denture plates and easiness in being squeezed out of a tube and which includes a low softening-point resin selected from polyvinyl acetate resins and natural chicles, and at least one compound having a molecular weight of about 120-7000 and containing one or more polyoxypropylene groups of the formula --(CH.sub.2 --CHCH.sub.3 --O).sub.n where n is an integer of 2-120 in an amount of at least 60% of the molecular weight of the compound.
Abstract: The invention relates to a plural stage process for dyeing keratinous fibers wherein a composition (A) comprising, in a medium suitable for dyeing, 5,6-dihydroxyindole and iodide ions, is applied to the hair, the application of said composition (A) being preceded or followed by the application of a composition (B) comprising hydrogen peroxide.
Abstract: Liquid sanitizing and cleaning compositions with diminished skin irritancy comprise a nonionic surfactant and a di-(lower-alkyl)-long-chain-alkylbenzylammonium benzoate or a di-(lower-alkyl)-di-(long-chain-alkyl)-ammonium benzoate, the latter being produced either by ion exchange of the corresponding quaternary ammonium halide with benzoate or by mixing the quaternary ammonium halide with at least about one molar equivalent of an alkali metal benzoate, in water.
Abstract: Process for dyeing hair in several separate steps consisting in applying a cosmetically acceptable composition containing at least one cupric salt and, before or after this application, a cosmetically acceptable composition containing a dye chosen from brazilin and its hydroxyl derivative.
Abstract: The physical stability of liquid gel-like compositions based on montmorillonite, attapulgite, hectorite or other inorganic colloid-forming clay or other thixotropic thickener is greatly improved by incorporating in the composition small amounts, such as 0.1 to 0.2 weight percent of long chain fatty acids. The aqueous compositions containing inorganic builder salts and other functional inorganic salts, chlorine bleach, bleach-stable detergent, thixotropic thickener and a fatty acid as a physical stabilizer exhibit a significant increase in apparent viscosity and remain stable against phase separation for an extended period of time. The thixotropic properties can be retained or improved using smaller levels of the clay thixotropic thickener than in the absence of the physical stabilizer. Use as liquid gel-like automatic dishwasher compositions are described.
