Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing surface-postcrosslinked water-absorbent polymer particles by coating of water-absorbent polymer particles having a content of residual monomers in the range from 0.03 to 15% by weight with at least one surface-postcrosslinker and thermal surface-postcrosslinking at temperatures in the range from 100 to 180° C.

Abstract: Provided is a polymer blend composition comprising high density polyethylene, a propylene polymer having rubber dispersed therein, and a propylene/ethylene copolymer. In one embodiment, there is provided a polymer blend composition comprising from 20 to 55 weight percent of the high density polyethylene, from 20 to 55 weight percent of a propylene polymer having from 10-60% crystallinity, and a propylene/ethylene copolymer comprising the remainder of the composition.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a coating composition for an in-vivo implantable prosthesis including a photoinitiator, a crosslinking agent, and a phosphorylcholine (PC) monomer having an acrylate group, a method of coating an in-vivo implantable prosthesis using the coating composition, and a cosmetic prosthesis coated with the crosslinked polyphosphorylcholine. An in-vivo implantable prosthesis coated with crosslinked polyphosphoryicholine may be manufactured by a simple method of applying a coating composition including a photoinitiator, a crosslinking agent, and a phosphorylcholine (PC) monomer having an acrylate group according to the present invention, and then irradiating UV rays. The crosslinked polyphosphorylcholine coating may provide hydrophilicity for the surface and may also remarkably reduce adsorption of proteins and fibroblasts, which may cause side effects such as capsular contracture.

Abstract: A process and formula for producing a simulated weathered wood finish calls for a mixture including water, acrylic, (2-butoxy-1-methylethoxy)propan-2-ol and (2-methoxymethylethoxy)propanol. A quantity of sodium bicarbonate is added to the mixture in a ratio of between 1 part to 5 parts of the sodium bicarbonate to 100 parts of the mixture. This creates a solution which is applied to the surface of wood to create an aging effect on the wood.
Abstract: The present invention provides energy-curable compositions comprising aminoacrylates produced by the Michael addition reaction of any blend of highly alkoxylated monomers with any blend of mono- and/or bireactive amines. Suitable highly alkoxylated monomers include, but are not limited to, poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylates, poly(propylene glycol) diacrylates, and ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylates. The alkoxylated monomers have a degree of alkoxylation equal to or greater than 2.0 per functional group. The compositions of the present invention further comprise greater than 10% (w/w) of any blend of monomers having molecular weights of less than 1000 Daltons.

Abstract: A method of producing a photovoltaic cell having a cover, comprising the steps of: providing a photovoltaic cell which comprises a crystalline silicon substrate; providing a transparent substrate; forming an antireflective coating on said transparent substrate to provide a coated transparent substrate; and covering the photovoltaic cell with said coated transparent substrate. The antireflective coating is a hybrid organic-inorganic material having an inorganic portion comprising silicon, oxygen and carbon, and further comprising an organic portion with organic groups connected to the inorganic portion. Methods of producing solar panels, coated glass substrates as well as antireflection coatings are disclosed as well as novel compositions of hybrid organic-inorganic materials.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a vinyl chloride-based polymer showing high viscosity properties in a low shear region and showing viscosity and stress decreasing properties in line with the increase of a shear rate, a method for preparing the same, and a plastisol comprising the same. Since the vinyl chloride-based polymer comprises a saponified emulsifier in a specific ratio, high viscosity properties may be shown in a low shear region, and Bingham fluid flow properties may be shown, by which viscosity and stress decrease in line with the increase of a shear rate.

Abstract: Disclosed is modified silica filler material wherein the silica filler material has been surface treated with both an alkyl silane and an alkenyl silane. The modified silica filler material, when included in an elastomeric composition, results in lower compression set and improved mechanical properties including viscosity, tensile strength, modulus and elongation. The filler material can be used at high levels in elastomeric compositions and does not raise the viscosity to unusable levels. The elastomeric composition including the modified filler material finds special use in the formation of gaskets for fuel cells.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel PVC-free plastisol composition that cures at a temperature much lower than conventional plastisols. The plastisol composition includes an acrylate polymer; and a plasticizer mixture comprising at least three plasticizers selected from the group consisting of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3 pentanediol diisobutyrate, dioctyl terephthalate, dibutyl terephthalate, and benzyl butyl 1,2-cyclohexyldicarboxylate. Also disclosed is a method of applying the composition.
