  • Patent number: 5931386
Abstract: A spray nozzle mountable on the outlet (3) of a fluid dispensing device for dividing a fluid into fine droplets. The nozzle includes a core (11) and an atomizer (2) together defining a vortex chamber (14, 24) communicating with the outside via a spray port (21) in the atomizer (2), and a number of vortex channels (15, 16) opening non-radially into the vortex chamber (14, 24). The atomizer (2) has an oblong shape with a longitudinal major axis lying in a horizontal plane. The vortex channels (15, 16) preferably communicate with the outlet (3) of the spray device via two symmetrical feed ducts (12, 13) extending on either side of the core (11) and lying in a horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 5927613
Abstract: A fuel injector includes a tubular core 3 which attracts an armature 10 of a valve 12 by energizing a solenoid coil 6, and an outside magnetic path forming member 7 which partly surrounds the solenoid coil 6 and which constitutes a magnetic path M together with an armature 10 and the core 3. The outside magnetic path forming member 7 is provided with an end plate 7b having a mounting hole 8, and the core 3 is provided with a flange 3a in contact with the end plate 7b. The core 3 is inserted into the mounting hole 8 of the outside magnetic path forming member 7 such that the end plate 7b comes into contact with the flange 3a of the core 3, thus readily positioning the outside magnetic path forming member 7 on the core 3.

  • Patent number: 5921476
Abstract: A method of conditioning a flow of fluid comprises the steps of introducing a fluid into a nozzle body having an opening defining an inlet, an opening defining an outlet, and an inner surface connecting the inlet and the outlet, directing the fluid introduced into the inlet of nozzle body over the inner surface, and applying a pressure to the fluid. The inner surface of the nozzle is asymmetric with respect to a centerline of the inlet to provide a first region outside the nozzle of relative maximum pressure and a second region outside the nozzle of relative minimum pressure, where the first and second regions are substantially the same distance from the outlet. A fluid-conditioning nozzle comprises an inlet having an edge defining a first circumference, an outlet, offset from and spaced apart from the inlet, having an edge defining a second circumference, smaller than the first circumference, and a transition surface extending between the inlet and the outlet.

  • Patent number: 5918816
Abstract: A multifunction hand shower can be used in at least two modes of operation: in the first of these modes of operation, the shower jets emerge from the shower base (3) in a constant stream at relatively high speed and with a small cross-section ("hard jet mode") and in the second mode of operation they emerge at high speed and with a relatively small cross-section, but are intermittently interrupted ("pulse jet mode"). The periodic interruption of the "pulse jets" is ensured by a pulse wheel (23) which is housed in a circular chamber (20) in the housing (1) in such a way that it can rotate. In the "hard jet mode", the rotation of the pulse wheel (23) is interrupted, by a stop (45), in a quite specific angular position which allows the hard jets to emerge from the shower base (3) in a constant stream. To change over to "pulse jet mode", the stop (45) is moved out of the path of movement of a stop (28) which is connected to the pulse wheel (23) such that the pulse wheel (23) is now able to rotate freely.

  • Patent number: 5915625
Abstract: In the processing of rapidly hardening flowable substances, especially glue, it is important to avoid hardening of glue residuals within the nozzle unit during temporary interruptions of operation. For this purpose, a liquid, especially water, is supplied through a nozzle duct so that the glue is rinsed out of an end section (31) facing the nozzle orifice (17). By closing the nozzle duct (16), a water column remains in the nozzle duct (16) and seals it towards the outside.

  • Patent number: 5904295
Abstract: An enclosure made of rugged metal or plastic is provided including a top, at least one side wall and a bottom. An inlet is provided in the bottom wall and an internal chamber is provided above the inlet. This internal chamber contains a valve similar to valve 20 which is capable of opening and closing rapidly and may be controlled by external electrical or hydraulic power. Preferably a commercial available filter screen material is provided in the inlet to the internal chamber to insure that no large particles which would harm the system, are permitted to enter the internal chamber. The internal chamber is in fluid communication with an upper chamber which is preferably cylindrical and which optionally includes the diffuser material to reduce turbulence. After the fluid flows through the upper chamber, it is in substantially laminar flow and exits through a knife edge orifice into an outer chamber pool defined by an extension of the outer enclosure and the top of the enclosure.
