  • Patent number: 7105759
Abstract: An electronic instrument has a rotary switch with an extending shaft, a light source proximate to the shaft, and a knob attached to the shaft. The knob has a body with a rear face, an opposed front face, and side surfaces extending between the faces. The rear face defines a bore sized to receive a free end of the shaft. The body has a light-transmissive portion extending from a first surface portion of the rear face surrounding the bore, such that light from the light source enters the light transmissive portion regardless of the rotary position of the knob. The light-transmissive portion of the body extends to a window in the side surface or the front face.

  • Patent number: 7102089
Abstract: A pressure actuated switching device is made by applying at least a first layer of fluid conductive polymeric coating material to a surface of a sheet of green rubber material. The conductive polymeric coating is solidified to form an electrode, and the sheet of green rubber material is vulcanized. Two strips of green rubber may be simultaneously processed and then joined such that the respective layers of conductive coating are in spaced apart opposing relationship. The conductive polymeric coating may optionally be formulated with green rubber. Optionally, a blowing agent may be included in the conductive coating formulation so as to provide a cellular polymeric foam piezoresistive material from which the electrode is constructed. The green rubber sheets may be processed by a continuous rotary method or by a linear method using a clamping press having opening and closing dies for heating and joining the strips of green rubber.

  • Patent number: 7091433
Abstract: A switch assembly for triggering the release of a door latch that provides improved tactile feedback to a user when actuated is disclosed. The switch assembly provides a tactile response to the user that indicates proper actuation by the force feedback that is provided to the user as the button is displaced during actuation. The switch assembly includes an elastomeric button and a base supporting the button. An electrically conductive static contact is supported by the base. An electrically conductive moveable contact, also supported by the base, is operatively disposed between the button and the static contact. A film is disposed over the moveable contact and fixed to the edge of the base, sealing both contacts from the atmosphere. The film thereby effectively divides the interior of the switch assembly into an open first chamber located between the film and the button, and a closed second chamber located between the film and the base.

  • Patent number: 7091434
Abstract: A dial switch disposed on a front surface of a control panel is surrounded by a colored ring which is visible from a front side of the control panel. Behind the front surface of the control panel, an ornamental prism made of a transparent material and a light source are disposed. A colored layer is formed on the rear surface of the ornamental prism so that a ring surrounding the dial switch is visible as a colored ring. The colored ring is visible through the transparent ornamental prism at the daytime and is visible by illumination of the light source in the nighttime. Since no light leaks bypassing the colored layer, the ring is perfectly colored. Since only the flat rear surface of the ornamental prism is covered with the colored layer, the ornamental prism can be manufactured in a simple process.

  • Patent number: 7078636
Abstract: The present invention discloses a safety switch for a portable stove, which controls the startup of an ignitor as well as an adjusting rod to adjust the flame. By latching an end of a push button into a limit groove disposed above an installing hole, the invention assures the stove to be turned off completely to prevent a fuel leak. With a gap between the push button and the installing hole, a knob can be turned to drive the adjusting rod to adjust the quantity of incoming airflow of the fuel. If a pressing rod is pressed to start the ignitor, the knob and the push button will not move back and forth accordingly, so that the push button will not be worn out so easily but can maintain its longevity.
