  • Patent number: 11006586
Abstract: A greenhouse, for cold weather climates, is configured with a gable that is offset toward the north wall and therefore the south extension of the roof, from the gable to the south wall is longer than the north extension. A greater amount of light can enter through this south extension and the inside surface of the north wall is configured with a reflective surface to allow light to be more uniformly distributed around the plants. The north wall may no widows and may be thermally insulated to prevent the greenhouse from getting too cold during the night. A ground to air heat transfer (GAHT) system may be configured to produce a flow of greenhouse air under the greenhouse for heat transfer, to moderate the temperature of the greenhouse. A thermal medium may flow to a thermal reservoir for heat exchange with the conduits of the GAHT system.

  • Patent number: 11000011
Abstract: An embodiment of the disclosed equine support boot comprises a base portion, at least one upper strap, and a v-shaped sling strap attached to a top section of the base portion, the sling strap being configured to pull the fetlock joint towards the attachment point to apply an upward force on the leg thus decreasing tensile stress in a localized area. In this embodiment, the disclosed equine support boot represents an improvement over known equine support boots because in known boots, sling straps rap horizontally around the horse's leg and thus do not provide an upward vertical force on the fetlock joint of the horse's leg. The use of a v-shaped sling strap in embodiments of the disclosed boot enables the straps themselves to apply an upward force toward the attachment point of the v-shaped strap when the boot is mounted on the horse's leg.

  • Patent number: 10959382
Abstract: Growing systems may include a number of modular growing chambers with integrated support columns that eliminate the need for an external support frame and which provide a simple way to remove chambers from a stack for harvesting. The chambers can be assembled around a growing plant. Pins provided on the support columns ensure alignment and provide for easy removal of a lower chamber by first supporting the stack and slightly lowering it relative to the stack. The chamber structure supports harvesting processes that permit harvesting of a chamber simply by shifting it relative to the stack and supporting the other chambers in a vertical position and shifting the chambers. A portable shifting device may provide automated support, shifting and removal of one or more chambers for harvesting.

  • Patent number: 10918090
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for integrated article dispensers for leashes which provide greater handling and responsiveness. One embodiment is an apparatus is in the form of an article dispenser that includes a first end for coupling with a first tensile member, a second end for coupling with the second tensile member, and a rigid housing between the first end and the second end. The rigid housing defines an internal volume for storing articles, and that further defines an opening. In response to the article dispenser bearing a threshold amount of tension, a centroid of the article dispenser aligns within a threshold distance of being collinear with a force that generates the tension. While the centroid of the article dispenser is within the threshold distance of being collinear, rotation of the system about an axis of the forcer applies less than a threshold torque to the tensile members.

  • Patent number: 10918078
Abstract: An electronic monitor can monitor experimental animals in a cage. The cage has one or more walls that enclose a living space for the experimental animals. The electronic monitor is coupled to the cage. The electronic monitor may include a housing adapted to be mechanically coupled to the cage in a predefined position relative to the cage. A substantially sterile barrier is provided between the living space and the external environment in this coupled state. The walls of the cage may include a signal-interface section. An electromagnetic detector may be coupled to the housing to have a line-of-sight through the signal-interface section and into the living space of the cage. The electromagnetic detector is adapted to detect electromagnetic radiation that is transmitted through the signal-interface section. A controller processes a signal received from the electromagnetic detector to determine a status of the experimental animals or the living space.

  • Patent number: 10849308
Abstract: A pet sanitation device provides a litter-containing basket in a housing, with a spinner/agitator in the basket. After a pet uses the device, the housing and basket are filled with water to dissolve waste in the litter, and the spinner/agitator is caused to spin at a first, relatively slower speed within the basket to help break-up the waste. The basket is then caused to spin at a second, relatively faster speed in the housing, and this second spinning motion produces centrifugal forces that force the wastewater outward from the basket and into the space between the basket and the housing. The wastewater is drained from the housing, leaving the device ready for a subsequent use.

  • Patent number: 10842135
Abstract: A device for uncapping wax cappings (13) that cover honeycombs (14). Before extracting, the sealed honeycombs (14) have to be uncapped in order to be able to spin the honey out of the honeycombs (14). The cutting system of this device allows, besides full-sized honeycombs (14), also a precise uncapping of undersized honeycombs (14) or shallow and deformed honeycomb structures, which cannot be uncapped using traditional cutting systems. The device includes rotatably mounted perforating elements (11, 12), and supporting elements (5, 6), on which the perforating elements (11, 12) are mounted. Secondly, the supporting elements are pivoted on a base for turning movement. Thirdly, the device has supporting elements equipped with a spring for pressing them against the honeycomb (14) with such a force that enables the piercing elements to go through the wax cappings (13) and into the honeycombs without damaging the other structures of honeycomb frame (2).
