When heating capacity for the front seat side of the passenger compartment is necessary to be increased, the switching door is operated to a rear shutting position so that all air heated by the heater core can be introduced toward the front seat side through the first and second air passages of the warm air passage.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for burning organic material including farm bedding waste of the present invention includes a firebox having an air injector disposed within the firebox. A heat exchanger is also disposed within the firebox above the air injector. The fuel to be burned, a mixture of organic farm bedding waste, is piled in the firebox surrounding the air injector and heat exchanger. By injecting air into the pile of fuel, the fuel is burned from the inside out, surrounding the heat exchanger with the burning fuel. The unburned fuel acts to insulate the burning fuel from the walls of the firebox.

    Abstract: A method of burning plant-based fuel is involved in which the plant-based fuel is burned in a boiler designed for burning dry fuel and with the plant-based fuel being used having a moisture value which can vary in range from dry to wet. The method involves heating air with heat energy from combustion gases of the boiler to provide a source of heated air and providing heat and flow amounts of the heated air, with derived heat energy from the combustion gases, to the fuel in an amount sufficient for drying the fuel in any condition presented amongst the range between dry and wet. The flow of the heated air directed to the fuel is controlled to provide sufficient drying of the fuel before use of the fuel in the boiler and such that the heated air not needed for drying the fuel is conducted into the boiler to serve as heated combustion air.

Overfire air and offset air are also supplied into the furnace, the offset air being that portion of the air supplied to the furnace so as to support a second imaginary circle concentric to, and having a larger diameter than, the first imaginary circle.

The atomizer is connected to the container near the lower section to shoot atomized waste liquid upwardly into the chamber such that waste liquid shot out of the atomizer is directed toward the upper section. A method of incinerating waste liquid comprises the steps of jetting flame into the lower section of an incineration chamber having a vent adjacent to the upper section thereof, and shooting an atomized waste liquid upwardly into the lower section so that the atomized waste liquid is directed toward the upper section.

    Abstract: A furnace is provided for burning soila organic fuels including highly volatile organic fuels. A combustion chamber with an ash hopper has a slot mouth opening defined by slopes of the walls of the combustion chamber. A burner is disposed beneath the ash hopper mouth opening and extends across its entire width. A bottom blast inlet device generates a turbulent zone in the lower region of the combustion chamber. A duct is further provided for injecting a sulfur-absorbent material into the furnace chamber. The duct is disposed between the burner and the ash chamber and defines a longitudinal axis which traverses the turbulent zone. Preferably, the burner is tilted downwardly and is disposed on a wall in common with the sulfur-absorbent induction duct. The proportion of the sulfur-absorbent materials in the fuel mixture is in the range of 10% to 100% by mass.

    Abstract: A conveyor/cooler of hot loose materials produced by fluid bed boilers and various industrial processes includes one or more feeding channels, which are substantially vertical or at any inclination. Because of gravity, the material leaves the combustion chamber of the boiler. A metallic container is connected to the downstream end of the discharging channels. A metallic conveyor belt driven by a motor is placed within the container, and the material from the downstream end of the channels is laid on the conveyor belt, thus forming a travelling continuous bed. The belt therefore constitutes a regenerative heat exchanger which absorbs heat from the material during the forward run and gives it back to the air during the backward run.

A mixing arrangement which may include fins (44) associated with the reaction chamber (11) mixes both gases and molten reactant metal in the reaction chamber to enhance exposure of unreacted gases to the molten metal.

    Abstract: An air handling system for the cab of a skid steer loader has an airflow housing mounted on the exterior of the cab and on a rear wall thereof. The housing is within the profile of the loader, that is, below the upper wall of the cab and within the side frame members. The housing has an air inlet above the engine compartment, and includes a heater core and an air conditioning evaporator, both of which act as heat exchangers mounted in a plenum chamber in which two fans are mounted. Ducts lead from the plenum chamber to the interior of the cab. The ducts connected to the air handling housing open through ports in the rear wall of the cab into the interior, and interior or the cab ducts carry the air from the plenum chamber to desired locations of the operator's cab for heating, air conditioning or ventilating.

The air plenum unit includes multiple zones, each of which zones has an associated air flow control damper so that the flow of combustion air can be controlled. Ash siftings formed on the grate top surface when the biomass or other fuel is combusted fall into the air plenum unit and flow toward at least one ash-siftings discharge opening at a discharge end of the air plenum when the grate top surface and the air plenum is vibrated.

The reactor core is heated by burning an air fuel mixture external to the reactor core. A non-oxidizing gas/coal mixture is introduced into the reactor core where heat energy is transferred to the non-oxidizing gas/coal mixture so that the specific heat of the mixture is substantially raised. The non-oxidizing gas/coal mixture is discharged from the reactor core into the combustor chamber at which point an oxidizing medium such as air is introduced in order to instantly oxidize the heated non-oxidizing gas/coal mixture. The non-oxidizing gas may be a flammable gas, such as methane.
