  • Patent number: 11703017
Abstract: Methods and systems for heating an emission control device are provided. In one example, a method for a vehicle comprises during an engine cold start, heating an emission control device of the engine using a dual heat exchanger to heat secondary air and cool exhaust gas, and further heat secondary air with an electric heater. The method further comprises directing the heated secondary air to each exhaust runner of the engine via individual air injectors to mix with exhaust gas. In this way, an improved mixture of air and exhaust reduces catalyst light-off time and increases conversion efficiency, thereby reducing hydrocarbon emissions during engine cold start.

  • Patent number: 11703021
Abstract: In a fuel injection device, a driving unit structure has a magnetic aperture, in which an inner diameter is gradually enlarged toward the mover side, provided in an inner peripheral surface of the magnetic core. It is possible to reduce magnetic delay time upon valve opening from the supply of the electric current to the coil to the rise of magnetic flux and magnetic delay time upon valve closing from the stoppage of the electric current to the coil to reduction of magnetic flux, by providing a magnetic aperture in the inner peripheral surface of the magnetic core. Thus it is possible to improve the dynamic responsiveness upon valve opening and valve closing.

  • Patent number: 11685491
Abstract: The present invention provides a hetero-stiffness robotic device with a central body portion having a head end and a tail end. A rigid rotatable head propeller extends from the head end while a flexible rotatable tail propeller extends from the tail end. A head motor positioned in the central body portion rotates the rigid rotatable head propeller and a tail motor positioned in the central body portion rotates the flexible rotatable tail propeller. A controller independently controls a rotational speed of the head motor and the tail motor. The head and tail propellers may have helical shapes. The hetero-stiffness propulsion gives the robotic device a high level of environmental adaptivity over a wide range of viscosities. The device demonstrates advantages in linearity, straightness, bi-directional locomotion ability, and efficiency, which provides a critical competence for moving in low Reynolds number environments.
