  • Patent number: 4234308
Abstract: This device for locking a dental tool in a handpiece of the contra-angle type comprises a keeper plate slidably mounted on the external surface of the holder and rigidly associated with a control member formed with a thumb-piece consisting of an inclined surface portion thereof. A keyhole formed in the keeper plate is engaged by a suitable shaped end portion of the tool shank so that when the keeper plate is moved to its release position the tool shank can pass through the larger portion of the keyhole and when the plate is in its locking position to which it is urged by a return spring the end portion of the tool shank engages the narrow portion of the keyhole.

  • Patent number: 4232466
Abstract: Apparatus for holding a display panel such as a warning sign is the subject of the present invention. The apparatus is particularly designed for use as a barricade in the vicinity of road construction. The apparatus is constructed of standard plastic tubing and fittings of the type used in the plumbing industry. A break-away construction minimizes damage in the event an object strikes the apparatus and makes repair quick and economical. Four tubular leg supports are arranged in two converging pairs and are each presented by tubular members held together by a standard T-coupling. Standard Y-couplings join the two pairs of leg supports at their point of convergence. First and second transverse tubular members extend between the T-couplings on the respective pairs of legs and each of the transverse members is of a length equal to twice the length of the members which form the legs. This permits the two leg sections to be made by simply dividing a transverse segment into half.

  • Patent number: 4232464
Abstract: A method for the display of information by means of a multi-element passive display device, the elements being separately activated, matrixially arranged and at least two elements required to be activated for display of information. The type of display involves use of a liquid crystal cell formed of electrodes and counter-electrodes carried by two glass plates respectively and the said elements are parts of said electrodes and counter-electrodes.The method comprises the election for activation of elements which are adjacent in any direction, that is, either those superposed, or side by side or diagonally arranged. This method enables use of conventionally shaped characters of greater individual size than heretofore available and is useful for display of dates and/or days of the week on electro-optic watches.

  • Patent number: 4232477
Abstract: An inflatable toy which when inflated has the contour of a hassock. The toy features a cylindrical envelope and inner radially-extending planar baffles, these elements being composed of soft limp flexible material such as a thermoplastic plastic. When the toy is inflated by introducing air under mild pressure into the envelope, the top and bottom walls of the envelope are distended so as to assume the contour of the top and bottom of a hassock, i.e. with a central bulge and discrete radial outward bulges. This configuration is formed by disposing the baffles vertically and mutually angularly spaced, each of the baffles extending radially from near the central axis of the envelope and terminating short of the periphery of the envelope, with rectilinear attachments of the top and bottom edges of each of the baffles to the top and bottom walls of the envelope. The baffles are tautened by outward force exerted on the top and bottom walls between the baffles, by the pressure of the inflating air.

  • Patent number: 4232463
Abstract: A panel file, for the storage of flat, flexible data elements, consists of plural, vertically spaced pockets, the entrances of which are formed by a plurality of vertically spaced, horizontally extending strips of resilient material. The strips are arranged so as to have an upper edge which overlaps the lower portion of the next upwardly adjacent strip. The strips are fastened together at their lateral margins. The lower portions of the pockets are formed by a support sheet which is attached to the panel on the surface opposite the pocket entrances. The support sheet is cut so as to have a column of inverted "V"-shaped straps, each having a vertex which is attached to the back of strips above overlapped portions thereof. The strips have an upwardly indented bottom edge with a central vertex at the point where the support sheet strap is attached to the next downwardly adjacent strip.

  • Patent number: 4229902
Abstract: An augmented bubble blower device in which a mouthpiece tube is mounted for axial movement relative to a venturi tube. The discharge end of the tube is surrounded by an open chamber so that a jet of breath which is discharged from the mouthpiece tube along the longitudinal axis of the venturi tube draws air from the surrounding environment and carries that air with it into the venturi chamber. The remote end of the venturi chamber provides a support for the formation of a bubble from film-forming material stretched across the remote end of the venturi tube.
