  • Patent number: 5865715
Abstract: A resistance exerciser for the vaginal muscles having a first member, a second member, an adjustment and locking apparatus and a system to provide bias. The first member and second member are joined together at a rear ends of both members by a hinge to form the overall unit. Bias is provided between the members to bias the members from a closed position to an open position. The adjustment and locking apparatus controls the opening width between the first and second members and is used to maintain the exerciser in a closed position for insertion and storage. The first member has a tapered head region for ease of insertion into the orifice of the vagina. The second member is joined with the first member from just behind the head region and extends to the rear of both the first and second members where they are attached with a hinge. Just behind the head region is a muscle positioning region consisting of an abrupt inward tapering, a flattened portion and an abrupt outward tapering.

  • Patent number: 5860897
Abstract: A relatively rigid molded thermoplastic sheet seat member has a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs forming channel depressions in the seat surface. An annular flange extends from a depending peripheral wall. Three generally cylindrical projections depend from the seat member bottom surface and each including an annular groove for selectively receiving a plurality of elastomeric straps or bands. The bands are formed into two spaced straps and at one end are secured in spaced grooves of a U-shaped grip bar and at the other end pass through an opening in the seat at the seat rear edge and are looped about the projections to set the distance from the seat to the grip. A strap may secure the seat to a chair. A person sits on the seat which overlies the chair seat during exercising the persons arms. Different embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5860896
Abstract: A posture-aiding elastic band that is worn with the user's upper arms inserted through loops formed at opposite ends of the band and with the length portions against each other, the band is stretched across the back of the user, which back width typically does not significantly vary among individuals so that one-size-fits-all and wherein there is urgency induced in the band due to the stretching which urges the upper arms or shoulders in movement into a vertical plane of the user's back providing a favorable contribution to the user's appearance and causing the user to develop a habit against slouching his/her shoulders and assuming a less desirable posture.

  • Patent number: 5853356
Abstract: The present invention comprises a pair of gripping handles between which a planar elastic band is supported. The coupling between each handle and the elastic band prevents inadvertent disengagement of the handle from the end of the elastic band and provides means for adjusting the distance between the handles and the force exerted. The end of the elastic band is directly supported by the end flange of the handle. A suspension clip having a bracing member extending parallel to the end flange is adapted to be removably disposed upon the end flange of the handle. A locking link having a central slot is adapted to be disposed adjacent the end flange in juxtaposition to the suspension clip. The end of the elastic band is threaded through the central slot of the locking link disposed about the bracing member of the suspension clip and threaded back through the central slot of the locking link.

  • Patent number: 5842961
Abstract: An adjustable resistance exercise machine including a pulley system and a cable connecting a handle to a weight. The handle is shaped to permit a free range of motion and an essentially unlimited number of exercises. Specifically, the handle is an angulated non-planar J-shaped tubular rod having a first end portion forming the stem of the J, and at least three segments forming the loop of the J. The second end portion of the rod forms the last segment of the loop of the J and lies in a first plane with the adjacent segment. The first end portion and the first segment lie in a plane at an angle to the first plane. A body engaging member is rotatably mounted on the first end portion of the tubular rod. The body engaging member may be a sleeve for the user to grip or a cuff for strapping onto various pats of the user's body, e.g., the foot or ankle.

  • Patent number: 5839993
Abstract: A treadmill folds for storage and includes a main frame structure, a pivoting frame, a resisting mechanism, an articulating structure, and an articulating mechanism. The pivoting frame pivotally mounts to the main frame structure along a main pivot axis such that a user may pivot the pivoting frame between a substantially vertical position and a substantially horizontal position. The pivoting frame supports a conveyor. The resisting mechanism applies a torsional resisting moment to the pivoting frame. The resisting moment opposes a moment which gravity induces on the pivoting frame. Upon moving the pivoting frame between the vertical position and the horizontal position, the articulating mechanism automatically articulates the articulating structure between a stored, retracted position and an extended position which stabilizes the treadmill.
