Abstract: The bone substitute material on the base of natural bone is rendered completely free of albumin and antigen by premaceration, pyrolization and sintering and its frame work consists of only the natural mineral structure of the natural bone.In the process of production of this bone substitute material the bone pieces are submitted to a pretreatment with warm water for removing of the soft parts, subsequently takes place a dealbumination by means of a solution of 10 to 30% H.sub.2 O.sub.2 in a shaking machine and a degreasing with ether. The bone pieces treated in this way are subsequently submitted to a combustion in a stove at 400.degree. C. to 1500.degree. C. and then to a sintering. This bone substitute material which may exist in the shape of the bone part to be replaced forms a form stable matrix for the bone regeneration in which only pure "mineral bone" is present so that no immunogen reactions can take place.

Abstract: Oligomeric and/or polymeric radiation-sensitive polyimide and polyisoindoloquinazoline dione precursors which are soluble in organic solvents, and are of high purity, i.e. in particular chloride-free, are produced simply by first reacting an aromatic and/or heterocyclic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride with an olefinically unsaturated alcohol to an olefinically unsaturated tetracarboxylic acid diester, and then reacting the latter, in the presence of a carbodiimide, with a diamino compound or a diamino compound having at least one ortho-positioned amino group. The radiation-sensitive precursors thus produced are suitable, for instance, for the production of highly heat-resistant relief structures.
Abstract: Melt-processing a mixture of a polyphenylene ether (PPE) and an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic compound, in the absence of an added free radical initiator such as a peroxide, serves to introduce carboxyl functionality into the PPE resin. The resulting carboxylated PPE resins are useful in forming alloys with more polar resins such as polyamides.
Abstract: A polymeric reaction product, a process for its preparation and a coating composition containing the reaction product as a binder are described. The polymeric reaction product is prepared by the vinyl addition polymerization of a vinyl monomer component of which at least 50 percent by weight is an active hydrogen-containing vinyl monomer in the presence of a polymeric diluent. The rate of polymerization is controlled such that the amount of unreacted vinyl monomer, on the average, does not exceed 10 percent by weight of the total weight of the reaction mixture.

Abstract: A heat curable epoxy adhesive composition has been developed which is substantially insoluble in cold hydraulic fluid before it is cured and resistant to degradation in hot hydraulic fluid after it is heat cured. The adhesive comprises a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A, a lesser amount of an epoxy novolac resin and a catalytic amount of 2-ethyl-4-methyl imidazole curing agent. The adhesive is particularly adapted to automatically and permanently calibrate the relief pressure of check valves in hydraulic systems.
Abstract: This invention relates to a novel class of polyetherimides. The subject polyetherimides display a unique combination of high temperature properties, toughness, and melt processability. They are suitable for molding, extrusion, and coating applications. They are also of interest as components of blends, as filled materials, and in composites.
Abstract: A resole resin in the form of microspherical particles whose surfaces are partly or entirely covered with a coating of a substantially water-insoluble inorganic salt and which are not larger than 500 .mu.m in size, and a process for producing such resole resin. The resole resin comprises solid particles that are highly heat reactive and can be stored in a stable manner for a prolonged period. The resin particles can be used with good results in all fields of applications (e.g., moldings, laminations and binders) where conventional phenolic resins are used.
Abstract: The instant invention is directed to a polymer with at least one labile backbone bond per repeat unit and at least one pendant acid functionality per thousand repeat units. The instant invention is also directed to a controlled release device which comprises:(A) a polymer with at least one labile backbone bond per repeat unit and at least one pendant acid functionality per thousand repeat units; and(B) a beneficial substance incorporated within or surrounded by the matrix of said polymer.
Abstract: The invention relates to an adhesive stick of an adhesive resin dissolved and/or dispersed in an aqueous solvent system and containing a gel-forming component and, if desired, other standard additives. The new adhesive stick is characterized in that its adhesive layers applied by rubbing onto a receiving surface show permanently tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive properties and in that the stick contains the reaction product of sorbitol and/or xylitol and benzaldehyde as the gel-forming component and, as adhesive resin, a reaction mixture from the reaction of methyl vinyl ether/maleic acid anhydride copolymers with partially neutralized acid phosphate esters of nonionic wetting agents of the lower alkylene oxide adduct type.

Abstract: A process is provided herein wherein a solid polymer slurry diluted with a specific diluent is continuously discharged under controlled conditions from a high pressure zone to a low pressure zone substantially maintained at atmospheric pressure and the slurry is then separated into said diluent and dried polymer, the improvement wherein the discharged amount of the solid polymer slurry is strictly controlled by varying the heat in the second zone and simultaneously adding a diluent which is gaseous under normal temperature and pressure so that by the control of these two perimeters a continuous slurry discharge can be maintained at predetermined levels.
