  • Patent number: 8848732
Abstract: A method of controlling connection between nodes in a digital interface whereby a first node that is a master node determines a second node to be the master and controls a point-to-point connection or a broadcast connection to another node. The first node having the display device determines the second node to be the master in accordance with a user selection, and transmits a connection command of a predetermined format for transmitting a data stream to the second node. The second node determined as the master in accordance with the transmitted connection command of the predetermined format is allocated with a channel and a bandwidth from an isochronous resource manager (IRM), and performs a point-to-point connection between the second node and the first node to transit the data stream. Thus, the transmission/reception, reproduction, and control of the data stream of the program can be smoothly performed.

  • Patent number: 8824491
Abstract: Scheduling methods and apparatus are provided for an input-queued switch. The exemplary distributed scheduling process achieves 100% throughput for any admissible Bernoulli arrival traffic. The exemplary distributed scheduling process includes scheduling variable size packets. The exemplary distributed scheduling process may be easily implemented with a low-rate control or by sacrificing the throughput by a small amount. Simulation results also showed that this distributed scheduling process can provide very good delay performance for different traffic patterns. The exemplary distributed scheduling process may therefore be a good candidate large-scale high-speed switching systems.

  • Patent number: 8571052
Abstract: A Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) device obtains knowledge of the configuration of an attached Ethernet fabric during a fabric initialization or login (FLOGI) process. FCoE N_Ports obtain similar information during the port initialization or login (PLOGI) process. The FCoE device may provide network management services to attached FCoE devices. Embodiments include a management module or processor within an FCoE N_Port. The management module or processor receives information associated with an Ethernet fabric from the FCoE N_Ports and provides management services based on the information associated with the Ethernet fabric. The FCoE N_Port communicatively couples to at least one additional FCoE N_Port through the Ethernet fabric. The FCoE N_Ports may be implemented within a disc storage drive, a host bus adapter, and/or an FCoE switch.
