  • Patent number: 11373771
Abstract: The present invention relates to filters used to remove debris from water being sucked into a piping system. It has particular application use in nuclear power plants, which, after a loss of coolant accident, must pump cooling water back into the reactor core from a collection sump. This water may contain various types of debris that must be removed before the water is sent back into the reactor cooling system. There are restrictions on the allowable pressure drop across the strainer and the space available for installing this equipment. The finned strainer of the present invention addresses these issues while maximizing the quantity of debris filtered from the water.

  • Patent number: 11369901
Abstract: A hollow filter element of a fluid filter has a coupling device for connecting with a first housing part of the filter housing when removing the hollow filter element from the second housing part. The coupling device is arranged at an axial end face opening of the hollow filter element. The hollow filter element can be joined by a rotation/insertion movement with the first or second housing part. The coupling device has guiding and entraining elements arranged circumferentially. A holding element extends circumferentially at the side of the guiding and entraining elements facing axially the outer side of the hollow filter element. Coupling elements for transmitting an axial pulling force can hook behind the holding element. The guiding and entraining elements are covered by the holding element radially inwardly and are connected force-transmittingly to the holding element so that the latter can be elastically stretched radially by them.

  • Patent number: 11358082
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method to separate solid particle components from a fluid that includes a spherical vessel with a tangential inlet to introduce the fluid and a fluid exhaust and filter arranged on the center line of the interior of the vessel. A combination of pressurized fluid and solid particles enter at the tangential inlet and move primarily in a circular path around the interior of the vessel. The circular path results in the larger mass particles settling at the vessels lower region. Less massive particles may be entrained in the exiting fluid flow toward a filter element where they are removed from the exiting fluid. The vessel has an opening to remove the trapped separated particles.
