  • Patent number: 9277445
Abstract: A wireless end-user device has wireless wide-area network (WWAN) and wireless local-area network (WLAN) modems. One or more processors classify whether an application is interacting with a user in a user interface foreground of the device. At a time when Internet service activities are communicated through the WWAN modem, the processors use a differential traffic control policy list to determine whether or not to apply a differential traffic control policy to an application requesting Internet service access. When the policy is applicable, and the application is not classified as interacting with a user in the device user interface foreground, the Internet service access request is blocked.

  • Patent number: 9265036
Abstract: Systems and methods for transmitting uplink control signals in a cellular communications network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a wireless device configured to operate in a cellular communications network includes a radio subsystem and a processing subsystem. The processing subsystem selects a value for at least one parameter for an uplink control channel format based on content to be transmitted in an uplink control channel transmission according to the uplink control channel format. The processing subsystem then transmits, via the radio subsystem, the content in an uplink control channel transmission according to the uplink control channel format and the value for the at least one parameter for the uplink control channel format selected based on the content.

  • Patent number: 9247506
Abstract: Various methods for controlling an aggressor user equipment (UE) can use two transmission power control loops to mitigate UE-to-UE adjacent carrier frequency band interference to a geographically proximal victim UE. The aggressor UE can select between different transmission power parameters based on two (or more) power values. The usage of any particular power value depends on the time period of the transmission. For example, if a proximal victim UE is scheduled to receive when the aggressor UE is scheduled to transmit, a lower power value may be selected as instructed by a co-scheduler or determined by the aggressor UE. The aggressor UE can also send dual power headroom reports to its serving base station based on the two power values.

  • Patent number: 9247560
Abstract: Controlling data transfer between a mobile device and a data telecommunications network includes receiving a service request requiring a data transfer, determining at least one parameter requirement relating to the service request from a predefined profile, determining a network/user condition relating to one or more of the at least one parameters, comparing the one or more parameter requirements with the relevant network/user condition, and using the comparison to determine whether or not to proceed with the service request. Data transfer to and/or from a mobile device may be managed so that the network conditions, such as available signal strength and bearer type, are taken into consideration before proceeding with the data transfer. Accordingly, if the network conditions are not suitable for the service request requiring a data transfer, it is possible to not proceed with the request, such as by delaying it until network conditions become suitable.

  • Patent number: 9246799
Abstract: Techniques are provided to decouple service chain structure from the underlying network forwarding state and allow for data plane learning of service chain forwarding requirements and any association between services function state requirements and the forward and reverse forwarding paths for a service chain. In a network comprising a plurality of network nodes each configured to apply a service function to traffic that passes through the respective network node, a packet is received at a network node. When the network node determines that the service function it applies is stateful, it updates context information in a network service header of the packet to indicate that the service function applied at the network node is stateful and that traffic for a reverse path matching the classification criteria is to be returned to the network node.

  • Patent number: 9232534
Abstract: A method in a mobile station (120) for enabling more than eight mobile stations to share one uplink Packet Data Channel (PDCH) in a GSM network (100) is provided. A combination of Uplink State Flag values in a set of two or more downlink radio blocks is received. The received Uplink State Flag values of the combination are jointly interpreted. Packet data are only transmitted (706; 1402) when an assigned combination of Uplink State Flag values has been received. Conventionally in GSM only a maximum of 8 unique mobile stations can share one PDCH using one timeslot (of eight conventionally available). By the combination of the USF values and joint interpretation thereof, more than 8 unique mobile station can share the same PDCH. Compatibility is also enabled with legacy mobile stations supporting only a single USF value.

  • Patent number: 9225638
Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a system, which provides service switching in a datacenter environment. The system can include a service switching gateway, which can identify a service tag associated with a received packet. During operation, the service switching gateway determines a source client, a requested service, or both for the packet based on the service tag, identifies a corresponding service portal based on the service tag, and forwards the packet toward the service portal. The service switching gateway can optionally maintain a mapping between the service tag and one or more of: a source client, a required service, the service portal, and a tunnel encapsulation. The service switching gateway can encapsulate the packet based on an encapsulation mechanism supported by the service portal and forward the packet based on the mapping.

  • Patent number: 9225627
Abstract: A method, system and computer readable medium for redistributing routes in backbone edge bridge multi-chassis link aggregation group topologies between two routing protocols is described. The method can include learning, at a first node and a second node, a first routing table entry originating from a first side of a network and being received in a first protocol and creating, at the first node and the second node, and generating second routing entry information corresponding to the first routing table entry, in a second protocol different from the first protocol. • Patent number: 9225683
Abstract: An integrated security switch and related method for managing connectivity and security among networks. The integrated security switch includes a security function connectable with a first network and at least one switching function connectable with a second network. A common management interface driven by both command line interface and graphic user interface protocols manages the switching function via a management path dedicated between the security function and the switching function. The common management interface enables secure switching of traffic to flow via a traffic path dedicated between the switching function and the security function. Typically, the traffic is a flow of data between the Internet and a group of networked users such as a wide area network.

  • Patent number: 9225478
Abstract: Technology is discussed for supporting wireless communication paths from an antenna array with a vertical directional component. Examples reduce training feedback for increased numbers of communication paths by only reporting on a subset of Reference Signals (RSs) provided for various vertical beam configurations. Additional examples reduce feedback with virtual measurements based on a difference between RS measurements. One such measurement can come from full set of RSs for a reference beam configuration and another from a partial set of RSs for an additional beam configuration. Such virtual measurements can also be based on cross correlation for beamforming weights associated with the two configurations. Several examples of preparing and sending measurement reports consistent with Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE) standards are discussed.
