  • Patent number: 11632739
Abstract: Solutions for focused cellular network paging of a user equipment (UE) include: detecting, by a network, a network exit of the UE from a last known cell and an exit condition for the UE; determining, by the network, a network paging condition; based on at least the last known cell and the exit condition for the UE, determining, by the network, a set of priority paging cells; paging the UE with the set of priority paging cells; and based on at least failing to receive a response by paging the UE with the set of priority paging cells, paging the UE with a larger set of cells. In some examples, the network topology is also used for determining the set of priority paging cells. By starting with the set of priority paging cells, rather than wider global paging, fewer cells are used for paging, thereby saving network bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 11602003
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a User Equipment (UE) over multiple User Plane Function Groups (UPFGs). In the wireless communication network, a Session Management Function (SMF) receives UPFG performance metrics from the wireless communication network. The selected UPFG comprises at least three User Plane Functions (UPFs) and the PDFG comprises at least two Packet Data Flows (PDFs). The SMF transfers network signaling to the selected UPFG to deliver the PDFG to the UE. The selected UPFG receives the network signaling and responsively exchanges user data for the UE to deliver the PDFG.

  • Patent number: 11595176
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which beamforming may be configured at a user equipment (UE) for narrowband communications. The UE may be a narrowband UE that may provide an indication to a base station that the UE is capable of performing beamforming communication for a unicast channel transmission. Such an indication may be provided in response to the UE receiving a non-beamformed broadcast channel transmission from the base station via a first carrier. The base station may receive the indication and configure the UE with a beamformed narrowband communications scheme. Such a beamformed formed narrowband communications scheme may be used for narrowband downlink shared channel communications, narrowband downlink control channel communications, or combinations thereof. In some cases, beamformed communications may be configured on a different carrier than the first carrier. The base station and UE may then communicate using beamformed transmissions.

  • Patent number: 11575551
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems (e.g., non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems), a base station may serve a large number of user equipments (UEs) on the uplink. To improve detectability for these uplink transmissions (e.g., if reference signals are not available for the transmissions), the UEs may implement parallel transmissions of preambles with uplink data. A UE may split the uplink data into one or more data layers, and may select one or more preamble layers to transmit superposed with the data layers. These preambles may be sequences known to both the UE and the base station to aid in detectability. The UE may assign different signature sequences to each of these layers based on cross-correlation values (e.g., assigning sequences with higher cross-correlation values to the data layers for improved detectability), and may scramble the layers into a single shared signal for transmission.
