Abstract: A method for determining a type of parking space for a motor vehicle includes detecting a target, evaluating an orientation of the target relative to a road, and determining a type of parking space on the basis of the evaluated orientation. The detecting the target is implemented by a frontal camera of the vehicle.
Abstract: Examples of various method and systems are provided for information extraction from scene information. 2D image information can be generated from 2D images of the scene that are overlapping at least part of one or more object(s). The 2D image information can be combined with 3D information about the scene incorporating at least part of the object(s) to generate projective geometry information. Clustered 3D information associated with the object(s) can be generated by partitioning and grouping 3D data points present in the 3D information. The clustered 3D information can be used to provide, e.g., measurement information, dimensions, geometric information, and/or topological information about the object(s). Segmented 2D information can also be generated from the 2D image information. Validated 2D and 3D information can be produced by cross-referencing between the projective geometry information, clustered 3D information, and/or segmented 2D image information, and used to label the object(s) in the scene.

Abstract: Various embodiments relate generally to computer vision and automation to autonomously identify and deliver for application a treatment to an object among other objects, data science and data analysis, including machine learning, deep learning, and other disciplines of computer-based artificial intelligence to facilitate identification and treatment of objects, and robotics and mobility technologies to navigate a delivery system, more specifically, to an agricultural delivery system configured to identify and apply, for example, an agricultural treatment to an identified agricultural object. In some examples, a method may include, receiving data representing a policy specifying a type of action for an agricultural object, selecting an emitter with which to perform a type of action for the agricultural object as one of one or more classified subsets, and configuring the agricultural projectile delivery system to activate an emitter to propel an agricultural projectile to intercept the agricultural object.

Abstract: Systems and methods for performing visual odometry more rapidly. Pairs of representations from sensor data (such as images from one or more cameras) are selected, and features common to both representations of the pair are identified. Portions of bundle adjustment matrices that correspond to the pair are updated using the common features. These updates are maintained in register memory until all portions of the matrices that correspond to the pair are updated. By selecting only common features of one particular pair of representations, updated matrix values may be kept in registers. Accordingly, matrix updates for each common feature may be collectively saved with a single write of the registers to other memory. In this manner, fewer write operations are performed from register memory to other memory, thus reducing the time required to update bundle adjustment matrices and thus speeding the bundle adjustment process.

Abstract: Systems and methods for image based location estimation are described. In one example embodiment, a first positioning system is used to generate a first position estimate. A set of structure façade data describing one or more structure façades associated with the first position estimate is then accessed. A first image of an environment is captured, and a portion of the image is matched to part of the structure façade data. A second position is then estimated based on a comparison of the structure façade data with the portion of the image matched to the structure façade data.

Abstract: A diagnostic tool for deep learning similarity models and image classifiers provides valuable insight into neural network decision-making. A disclosed solution generates a saliency map by: receiving a baseline image and a test image; determining, with a convolutional neural network (CNN), a first similarity between the baseline image and the test image; based on at least determining the first similarity, determining, for the test image, a first activation map for at least one CNN layer; based on at least determining the first similarity, determining, for the test image, a first gradient map for the at least one CNN layer; and generating a first saliency map as an element-wise function of the first activation map and the first gradient map. Some examples further determine a region of interest (ROI) in the first saliency map, cropping the test image to an area corresponding to the ROI, and determine a refined similarity score.

Abstract: A LUS robotic surgical system is trainable by a surgeon to automatically move a LUS probe in a desired fashion upon command so that the surgeon does not have to do so manually during a minimally invasive surgical procedure. A sequence of 2D ultrasound image slices captured by the LUS probe according to stored instructions are processable into a 3D ultrasound computer model of an anatomic structure, which may be displayed as a 3D or 2D overlay to a camera view or in a PIP as selected by the surgeon or programmed to assist the surgeon in inspecting an anatomic structure for abnormalities. Virtual fixtures are definable so as to assist the surgeon in accurately guiding a tool to a target on the displayed ultrasound image.
