Abstract: The polishing apparatus has a polishing unit capable of polishing a peripheral portion of the substrate to form a right-angled cross section. The polishing apparatus includes: a substrate holder that holds and rotates the substrate; guide rollers that support a polishing tape; and a polishing head having a pressing member that presses an edge of the polishing tape against the peripheral portion of the substrate from above. The guide rollers are arranged such that the polishing tape extends parallel to a tangential direction of the substrate and a polishing surface of the polishing tape is parallel to a surface of the substrate. The substrate holder includes: a holding stage that holds the substrate; and a supporting stage that supports a lower surface of the peripheral portion of the substrate in its entirety. The supporting stage rotates in unison with the holding stage.
Abstract: A grinder (100) includes a motor (12), a housing (4, 6, 30), a spindle (24), a first cover (120), and a second cover (170). The spindle protrudes downward from the housing, is driven by the motor, and thereby rotates. The first cover is provided in the circumferential direction of the spindle, is fixed to the housing, and at least partially covers a tool accessory (40), which is mounted on the spindle, from above. The second cover is detachably mounted on the housing (6) independently of the first cover.

Abstract: A water-jet operating head for cutting materials by a high pressure hydro-abrasive jet includes a main portion which is to be carried by an operating machine movably along one or more axes and a focusing nozzle for ejecting the high pressure hydro-abrasive jet, carried by a support removably connected to the main portion of the head. This support also carries a primary nozzle with an orifice having a predetermined diameter arranged upstream of the focusing nozzle. The high pressure water jet is added with an abrasive agent which is fed through at least one connecting element at a mixing chamber interposed between the primary nozzle and the focusing nozzle. The connecting element is associated to the main portion of the head and the nozzle-carrying support is adapted to be slidably received within a cylindrical cavity of a main support forming part of the main portion of the head.
