  • Patent number: 11096107
Abstract: A method is disclosed for a network node of a cellular communication network adapted for application of an uplink triggered cell handover functionality. The uplink triggered cell handover functionality may comprise initiating a handover when it is determined that an uplink channel performance metric relating to a serving cell falls on a first side of (e.g. is lower than) an uplink handover threshold. The method comprises dynamically restricting application of the uplink triggered cell handover functionality based on whether a restriction criterion is met or not. The restriction criterion is based on at least one of a resource cost of the uplink triggered cell handover functionality and a performance gain of the uplink triggered cell handover functionality.

  • Patent number: 11076270
Abstract: A wireless access node serves wireless user devices with different services over a common radio channel. The different services are supported by different wireless network slices. The wireless access node determines service subchannels in the radio channel based on location and time. The wireless access node schedules resource blocks from the subchannels for their corresponding services. If a subchannel for one service is full, then the wireless access node schedules the remaining data for the service in the unscheduled resource blocks of the other subchannels if any. The wireless access node wirelessly exchanges data for the services with the wireless user devices over the scheduled resource blocks in the subchannels of the radio channel. The wireless access node exchanges the data with the wireless network slices that support the services.

  • Patent number: 11071054
Abstract: A method for operating a mobile entity in a mobile communications network having at least one slice is provided. The slice of the mobile communication to which the mobile entity intends to connect is determined. Additionally, whether a relationship can be identified in the mobile entity is determined. The relationship indicates whether the slice to which the mobile entity intends to connect is related to an access point of the that slice. A request message is then transmitted to a radio access network (RAN) of the mobile communications network that includes the identified relationship.

  • Patent number: 11051352
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to operate in dual connectivity (DC) and with split radio bearers, such that one or more split radio bearers are associated with a first cell group and one or more split radio bearers are associated with a second cell group. In some cases, a cell group failure may occur. Accordingly, the UE may autonomously update one or more radio bearer configurations of the split radio bearers to determine a processing scheme for the cell group failure. Additionally or alternatively, as a result of the cell group failure, an amount of unacknowledged data in a radio link control (RLC) buffer for the second cell group may get stuck such that the network cannot access it. Accordingly, the UE may perform a PDCP data recovery (e.g., user plane handling) to access the unacknowledged data.

  • Patent number: 11012901
Abstract: The method is applied to a communications system including a first network device, a second network device, and a terminal device. The terminal device is communicatively connected to the first network device and the second network device respectively. The method includes: sending, by a network device, a first message to the terminal device, where the first message is used to determine that the terminal device stops communication with the first network device, or the first message is used to determine that the terminal device releases a protocol stack and a data radio bearer that are corresponding to the first network device; and the network device is the first network device or the second network device. Therefore, power consumption of the terminal device or the first network device and waste of air interface resources can be reduced, and flexibility can effectively be improved in a communication process.

  • Patent number: 10986552
Abstract: To establish a multi-AP RRC connection with a user device UD the UD in the coverage area of multiple APs selects suitable ones as cluster set candidates and reports this list to a temporary serving AP the UD chooses. The multi-AP connection itself is setup by the cluster set manager CSM. The CSM collects information from each AP about control channels and load in order to choose which APs will be in the cluster, which will be the serving AP, and to setup the multi-AP connection with the UD. Multiple message exchanges are described for this purpose. Once the multi-AP connection is established, if the UD's connection with the serving AP fails the UD can handover to another AP of the cluster set without having to re-establish a new RRC connection. This is particularly useful for networks subject to severe shadowing effects such as mmWave 5G.
