Abstract: The invention is of a kit or system useful for guiding and facilitating the taking, tabulation and processing of measurements as pertain to scoring game animal according to established scoring rules. The kit or system includes a flexible cable which is used to record absolute lengths or distances needed for a proper scoring. The cable lacks cumulative length indicia or unit indications, but rather includes equally spaced incremental indicia which are used (by multiplying the number of indicia as rest between measurement endpoints) as part of the ultimate determination of length according to standard measurement units. A reusable score card is also provided which includes spaces for recording measurements and indicia for indicating the proper measurements to be taken as well as the sequence thereof and prescribed calculations to be made therefrom.

And, the adhesive bonds together the overlay and liner at the high adhesion surface and allows separation of the overlay at the low adhesion surface.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for producing books on-demand. An electronic bookstore in accordance with the subject invention can receive an electronic text file of a book and then print and bind a copy of the book. A user may browse an electronic catalog, for example over the Internet, and place an order for a book which can be picked up at a conveniently located electronic bookstore shortly after placing the order. The subject invention reduces costs and waste associated with conventional production and distribution of print matter. Advantageously, the subject invention allows books with smaller audiences to be published at a reasonable price. An electronic bookstore in accordance with the subject invention can have access to literally millions of books and can print and bind any selected book in a few minutes.

Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to a foldable pocket assembly that is coupled to a cover of a binder along one of the edges of the pocket assembly. The pocket assembly has a first portion and a second portion divided by a fold line. The second portion is foldable along the fold line and adapted to releasably hold in the folded position adjacent to the first portion. Each portions may have a pocket or adapted to hold pencils and pens. As such, the present invention makes more efficient use of the space left between the cover and the papers held in the three ring binder to increase the carrying capacity of the binder. Furthermore, some pockets are not visible so that sensitive items may be more securely held in the hidden pockets.

Abstract: A template sheet forming postal meter labels or combination postal meter/address labels are described upon which postal indicia can be printed, by a non-impact printer, less than one-quarter inch from the edge of the label. The sheet includes a plurality of removably affixed meter tape or meter tape/address labels positioned on one face of a laminated individual or continuous feed sheet. The combination meter tape/address labels are self-aligning for conforming to United States Postal Service IBIP specifications.

Abstract: In a pocket of flexible sheet material comprising: a) a plurality of holes placed adjacent at least one edge of said pocket and adapted for releasable engagement with means capable of penetrating said holes, the main novel feature is b) that for each hole, a slit extends from said edge into the hole, each slit being rectilinear and opening tangentially into the hole concerned at the part of said hole lying most distant from said edge, the region adjacent said edge and in which said holes are formed being reinforced. With this arrangement, the pocket can be inserted into and removed from a loose-leaf ring binder without opening the rings by carrying out a simple procedure, at the same time ensuring that the pocket will not be pulled out inadvertingly, such as by weight of heavy documents in the pocket. It is also possible to use the pocket in a ring binder in which the rings are not adapted to be opened.

Abstract: A blank is provided adapted for forming into a file folder. The blank comprises a planar sheet having a first surface and a second surface. The sheet has a first cover portion joined to a second cover portion along a mutual cover hinge line. The sheet is adapted for folding about the cover hinge line such that the first cover portion and second cover portion overlie each other and the folder is adapted to receive sheet material therebetween. The first cover portion includes a tab extension along one edge thereof either adjacent to the fold line or opposite thereto. The tab extension includes an inner tab portion and an outer tab portion joined together along a mutual hinge line. Folding the tab extension about the tab fold line causes the outer tab portion to overlie the inner tab portion forming a tab which extends from an edge of the first cover portion beyond the second cover portion when the second cover portion is folded to overlie the first cover portion.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for affixing book pages to a book cover is disclosed having a sheet of paper with at least one waxy side and two stickers, each having a first side, the first side being sticky and removably affixed to the waxy side of the sheet of paper. In the preferred embodiment, the two stickers are separated by a distance to accommodate the thickness of pages of a book. The apparatus also has a means for easy removal of the stickers from said sheet and is preferably done by having the sheet of paper extending beyond each of the stickers to allow for easy separation of the stickers from the sheet of paper. The stickers may be attached to the book pages by a variety of means such as staples, channel binding, or otherwise.

Abstract: A page holder adapted to hold opposing pages of a book in an open position while reading. The page holder includes first and second wings meeting at a junction point and disposed at an angle of about 150° with respect to each other. A thumb opening is spaced back from the leading surface of the first and second wings and offset slightly from the junction point toward the first wing. In use, the reader's thumb is inserted into the thumb opening and the junction point is placed between two adjoining pages of an open book near the bottom of the pages. One wing extends over and holds down the page on the right while the other wing holds down the page on the left. One embodiment of the invention is formed of clear plastic material using injection molding, while another embodiment is made of metal wire using wireform manufacturing techniques.

Abstract: A device for rounding and pressing book blocks with a conveying device for the book blocks. The device includes rounding rollers, pressing jaws or similar clamping elements, which are displaceable relative to one another, which act to receive the book block and act with a predefined force upon the book block. The device automatically adjusts the clamping elements to different formats of the book block and, in the event of deviations in the book block thickness, the clamping elements are displaceable relative to one another via articulately connected levers. The levers function to clamp the book block via an operating cylinder acting upon the free ends of the levers and automatically aligning the book block. The point of rotation of the levers being displaceably mounted in a guide aligned with the center of the conveying device of the book block.

Abstract: A ring binder notebook is described which utilizes readily openable and closable snap rings and one or more covers that, unlike standard ring binder notebooks, are not restricted to either a closed (0°) or a half-open (180°) position—but may be fully opened (360°) back to front. This flexibility, previously possible only with standard spiral bound notebooks, is now achieved while still retaining the ability to readily add, remove, or rearrange the contents of the notebook. A notebook ring assembly is also described. The ring assembly has a shell, a pair of back plates, and one or more sets of longitudinally aligned binder ring members. Each binder ring member attached to the first back plate is transversely aligned with an opposing binder ring member attached to the second back plate. Each binder ring member attached to the first back plate is attached so that it extends away from the upper surface of the first back plate.
