  • Patent number: 4724876
Abstract: An apparatus for loading feed stock into agricultural bags of the type having a housing with a hopper, a passageway communicating with the hopper and a a rotor drivingly located in the passageway for advancing feed stock from the hopper into the bags. A screw conveyor is mounted within the hopper and directs stock oppositely along the length of the screw conveyor to eliminate mounding of the feed stock in the hopper. An insert is provided on a tapered wall of the hopper to divert the line of the flow of stock toward the rotational axis of the press rotor and is positioned to direct stock approximately to the screw conveyor and press rotor to prevent an accumulation of dormant stock in the vicinity of the rotor. The invention also comprehends the provision of a direct gear drive between the power take-off of a driving vehicle and the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4715412
Abstract: Method and apparatus for check-weighing a product charge in a continuously operating conveyor system without interrupting the operation and without having extra empty containers in the system after a check-weigh has occurred. Containers are fed forward in a series to a filling station where they are filled with a measured charge of product. When a check-weigh is desired a container is prevented from entering the series, a gap occurs corresponding to the measured charge to be check-weighed, and that charge is diverted to a scale and weighed while subsequent containers receive their charges uninterrupedly.

  • Patent number: 4709729
Abstract: A pipe weld repair structure adapted to seal leaks or cracks at a weld circumferentially disposed in a pipe. Includes at least two pipe clamp segments disposed around the pipe and connected together to form complete clamp. Each clamp segment defines two inner surfaces adapted to be in contact with outer surface of pipe when clamps are connected together around pipe. Each clamp segment defines an inner grooved recess disposed between inner surfaces and adapted to enclose a weld circumferentially disposed around pipe when clamps are connected together around pipe. Clamp segments define an internal diameter when clamp segments are connected to form complete clamp. Internal diameter is conventional fit around pipe while clamp segments are at sufficiently high temperature to cause thermal expansion. Internal diameter is a shrink fit around the surfaces of pipe after clamp segments are connected together while at sufficiently high temperature and subsequently allowed to cool to same temperature as pipe.

  • Patent number: 4705082
Abstract: A pump (18) draws liquefied carbon-dioxide from a reservoir (4 or 6) and delivers it via a controllable heater (20) and a filling valve (14) to a cylinder (26) to be filled to any required density. This receiver cylinder (26) is controllably warmed by a heater (32) while sensors (22,24) are provided to indicate the pressure and temperature of its contents. For each required density a table of figures is provided relating pressures (above saturation pressure) to temperature, for that density.A temperature (which must be clear above the lowest temperature at which the receiver will be liquid-fill at the required density but which need not exceed the critical temperature) is selected, and the heaters (20 and 32) are controlled so that the receiver cylinder and its contents will converge at or near that temperature as filling is completed.During the final phase of filling the indicated temperature will rise slowly and the pressure (from the time the receiver is liquid-full) will rise relatively fast.

  • Patent number: 4702386
Abstract: A fuel filler pipe seal includes upper and lower portions and a sealing lip positioned at the juncture of the upper and lower portions to engage an outer surface of a fuel nozzle and prevent the escape into the atmosphere of fuel fumes during a fueling operation. The lip lies in a plane which intersects a groove formed in an outer surface of the seal to receive a seat formed on a mounting bracket mounted in an upper end of the filler pipe, and the upper portion of the seal has an umbrella valve formed integrally with it which covers a vent opening in the bracket and is preloaded to release at a predetermined pressure. By positioning the sealing lip adjacent the seat-receiving groove a better seal with a fuel nozzle is formed, premature release of the umbrella valve is avoided, and damage to the seal when the nozzle is thrust into the filler pipe is minimized.

  • Patent number: 4685494
Abstract: A filling device for sterile filling of containers. A flexible temporary storage container is placed in a dosage chamber and exposed to external over-pressure and under-pressure, respectively. The filling goods is sucked into the temporary storage container and pressed out to the final storage container. A device for fine adjustment of the volume of the chamber has the shape of an adjustable membrane. The temporary storage container can be made of two semi-spheres, of which one is rigid and the other flexible. The flexible part forms a membrane having an area equal to the inner area of the rigid semi-sphere. In order to promote natural rolling of the membrane on the inner surface of the rigid semi-sphere, the membrane has reduced wall thickness in a direction towards the margin thereof.
