Abstract: A system and method for assessing the immunological status of one or more individuals in a patient population is presented. The method includes establishing a database comprising a plurality of records of information each representative of the immune status of an individual in the population, each of said records including (1) current information from one or more assays for the presence of a biochemical, and (2) individual specific information comprising one or more of said individual's medical history, said individual's doctors' observations and historical, demographic, lifestyle, and familial information relating to said individual. The method further includes processing the information in said database to find trends or patterns relating to the immune status of individuals in said patient population; and using the said trends or patterns as part of a health care related decision making process.

A timeline view area is presented having role relevant scheduled activities for one or more patients assigned to the clinician. Each role relevant scheduled activity comprises an activity to be performed by the clinician and is presented in the timeline view area based on a scheduled time and in association with a corresponding patient. When a user selection of at least one of the patients is received, one or more multidisciplinary activities for the patient are presented within the timeline view area. The multidisciplinary activities include activities scheduled to be performed by other clinicians, and each multidisciplinary activity is presented in the timeline view area based on a scheduled time.

Abstract: A patient registration record and payment system creates, maintains and transfers all relevant data electronically. The system captures patient registration and payment data, such as personal, demographic and insurance coverage information, medical history, frequently accessed healthcare providers, and data specifying one or more funding sources to pay for the amount of a medical visit for which the patient is responsible at the time of entry using graphical user interfaces through the Internet or a local area network. Moreover, the system includes the capability to access reference databases regarding verification of data for accuracy, completeness and validity on a continuous, automated basis and, where such reference databases are not available, to initiate manual verification of data for accuracy, completeness and validity by system personnel prior to making patient registration data available to customers or transferring such data to customer databases.

Abstract: A process, a system and a computer program product and computer readable medium are disclosed for the sequential control and execution of a medical task. In at least one embodiment, the task is processed with the aid of a plurality of different, computer-implemented, medical-technical, stateful applications. In at least one embodiment, the invention uses a 3-layer software architecture including a data layer, a business logic layer, and presentation layer. With the aid of a central server, the option is provided of a one-time loading of the extensive datasets for a task and the applications for a task, so that the datasets and the applications are subsequently preserved for a user of the medical task. As a result, multiple waiting periods for the user are avoided.

Abstract: A system and method for allowing a patient to access an automated process for managing a specified health problem called a disease. The system performs disease management in a fully automated manner, using periodic interactive dialogs with the patient to obtain health state measurements from the patient, to evaluate and assess the progress of the patient's disease, to review and adjust therapy to optimal levels, and to give the patient medical advice for administering treatment and handling symptom flare-ups and acute episodes of the disease. The medical records are updated, the progression of the disease is stored and tracked, and the patient's preferences for treatment are stored and then used to offer medical advice based on the current state of the disease. A prestored general disease trend curve is compared against a patient specific disease trend curve, and the system makes an automated response such as adjusting therapy.

Abstract: A clinical practice guideline can be implemented using a guideline execution engine. The engine can interpret the clinical practice guideline, obtain medical data stored in a clinical information system (CIS), and implement an action in response to execution of the clinical practice guideline based on medical data for a patient obtained from the CIS. The use of the CIS medical data in guideline execution beneficially allows the guideline to be tightly integrated into the real-time workflow of a clinician in a clinical setting and to provide patient-specific guideline recommendations. A VMR/actions interface facilitates communications between a guideline execution system and a CIS by processing a request for medical data from the guideline execution engine and implementing actions on the CIS requested by the guideline execution engine.

Abstract: To empower a member to make informed health care decisions, a health care organization (HCO) graphically presents the member with a manageable closed universe of health care information via an online interactive visual interface. The online interactive interface comprises a custom category node display of member health care data based on analyzing the member profile in light of the overall health care data taxonomy built by the HCO. Upon identifying the subset of relevant health care data categories, HCO initiates the display of the identified categories by way of a dynamically linked category node interface. To enhance the member's understanding of the relationships between the category nodes, the HCO preferably employs a ring node topology by displaying the online interface as a closed network or map, such as by locating each category node along one or more closed, loop-shaped wireframes, which connect the interrelated categories.

Abstract: A method for enhancing and supplementing the informed consent process of a patient undergoing a medical procedure is disclosed. A plurality of interactive multi-media program segments relating to a medical procedure are presented on-line to a patient who is to undergo the procedure. The patient views the multi-media program segments which may include a review of anatomy and physiology, the disease, the procedure, pre and post-operative instructions and risks and benefits. Patients may pose written questions to their doctor. The patient's experience, including which program segments are viewed as well as the patient's interactions therewith are captured, documented and preserved.
