  • Patent number: 10624126
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for a closed loop Listen Before Talk (LBT) which is a coexistence mechanism used by wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, to access unlicensed shared spectrum, such as the ISM UNII bands (5 GHz). The embodiments disclosed herein enable a base station to coordinate the LBT process at both the base station and a receiver in order to avoid hidden node interference where the interfering nodes are outside the sensing range of the transmitting node. The base station device can send a LBT trigger to the receiver to synchronize the clear channel assessments that are performed at each device to determine if there is any activity on the channel. The receiving device can send back a report to the base station device, and if no activity on the channel is detected, the base station device can schedule a transmission on the channel.

  • Patent number: 10616947
Abstract: The technique herein optimizes delivery performance from a content delivery network (CDN) edge node, preferably by using knowledge of radio link allocation behavior. According to the technique herein, an IP address of a cellular end user (or equivalent) is recognized by the CDN edge. Then, preferably by tracking idle times both in consecutive downloading bursts in the end user session and in an on/off style radio link allocation pattern, the CDN edge adjusts transport layer network protocol parameters. The approach (which leverages the cross-layer intelligence obtainable from existing CDN infrastructure) thus enables the transport layer protocol implemented at the edge to optimize the delivery performance over the cellular mobile network.

  • Patent number: 10608780
Abstract: Efficient and reliable transmission of information from sparse sources over wireless channels in wireless signal networks (WSNs). WSN nodes employ an “integrated signal representation-to-modulation” scheme to describe a sparse signal acquired from a sensor so as to ensure robustness against channel errors across a wide range of signal to noise (SNR) values in a rateless fashion. In one example, sparse signal samples are linearly transformed such that the total number of bits representing the sparse signal is reduced. The linearly-transformed signal samples are directly mapped to a modulation constellation to provide a succession of modulation symbols. A carrier wave is modulated in phase and/or frequency according to the succession of the modulation symbols to generate an encoded carrier wave representing the sparse analog signal. In one aspect, an order of the modulation constellation is based on the precision (e.g., number of bits) of each of the linearly-transformed signal samples.

  • Patent number: 10609641
Abstract: Operations include estimating a signal strength of a wireless signal as if received by a target wireless device. One or more relationships between detected signal strength values, measured channel utilization values, and/or actual channel utilization values are determined. The estimation is made based on applying detected signal strength values received at other wireless devices, measured channel utilization values at other wireless devices, and/or actual channel utilization values at other wireless devices to the relationships.

  • Patent number: 10594462
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for structured resource allocation signaling. In one novel aspect, an 8-bit RU allocation filed is allocated in the HE-SIG-B common field for each 20 MHz. The structured resource signaling supports more than four MU-MIMO users. In one embodiment, the STA decodes the 8-bit RU allocation signal following a structured resource unit (RU) allocation rule, and determines the RU. In one embodiment, the STA decodes the first two bits of the 8-bit RU allocation signal to determine a first category of the RU allocation. The categories of the RU allocation includes a large RU size category indicating larger than or equal to 20 MHz RUs exist, a two 106-tone category indicating two 106-tone RUs exist, and a no-large-RU category indicating only smaller-than-242-tone RUs exist. The STA further decodes based on the category. A lookup table (LUT) for RU allocation is built and decoded based on a structured signaling rule.

  • Patent number: 10579672
Abstract: This invention describes an audio snippet exchange network that allows people to subscribe to audio snippets that are published by other members on the network. The audio snippets may also have user contributed metadata related to them, such that the recipients can search a library of audio snippets and play back only those that match the search term. Oftentimes people want to take advantage of communication via social networks but are presently engaged in an activity such as driving or watching a live event. This audio snippet exchange network allows the person to have a largely uninterrupted experience while still publishing and consuming audio messages.
