  • Patent number: 4842510
Abstract: An integrated electronic control arrangement is disclosed in the illustrative environment of burner such as in a gas-fired furnace. The control incorporates a self-test feature which shuts down the furnace in the event of any one of a number of possible sensed faults. Self-testing occurs automatically before an attempt at ignition and during furnace operation. Proper functioning of the sensor which senses for induced air flow through the burner combustion chamber is tested prior to enabling a fan which causes that induced air flow. Air flow is confirmed by sending to and receiving back from the sensor a sequence of pulses. Should air flow not be sensed during a combustion period, combustion is terminated. A flame sensor is provided for determining the presence of a flame in the combustion chamber. During times when a flame should be present, pulse sequences are sent to and received back from the flame sensor to confirm that a flame is present.

  • Patent number: 4816083
Abstract: A multi-function electromagnetic valve assembly is provided which combines a number of housing combinations of electromagnetic valves into a single housing or connects the valves such that the valve inlets and/or exits are separate and/or merged to form a variety of combinations. Each of the electromagnetic valves in the assembly may have a manual operation unit and a one-way valve piston incorporated to have functions, such as manual operation in addition to automatic operation, one-way function and adjustable opening height of the valve. The use of a lot of manual valves and one-way valves can be avoided by using the present valve assembly. For the pilot type electromagnetic valve, a throttling mechanism can also be incorporated in the assembly and thus, the electromagnetic valves can compensate for wear of the valve, can adjust operating time, can operate with different media having different viscosity and can be isolated from other valves.

  • Patent number: 4809731
Abstract: A liquid additive injection pump has a hydraulic motor comprising a differential piston assembly reciprocable in a housing under the urging of a primary liquid into which an additive is to be injected. The piston assembly includes valves to effect the transfer of a primary fluid charge from the pump motor to a discharge passage and to effect reciprocation of the piston assembly. The motor piston is connected to a central axially disposed piston rod which extends into an additive injection pump cylinder. In one embodiment a floating additive injection pump piston has a stack of displacement control washers engaged therewith and disposed on the piston rod. In another embodiment the pump piston passes through a seal member between a pump chamber and a bypass chamber and an elongated spiral groove formed on the periphery of the pump piston determines the effective displacement of the pump.

  • Patent number: RE32880
Abstract: An improved metering valve, or flush valve, incorporates a rolling diaphragm mechanism of a cylindrical elastomeric material providing a smoothly transitioning flow rate control from the full open to the full close position. The rolling diaphragm sealing means is actuated by a floating cup driven by the differential pressure between the valve fluid inlet and an intermediate actuation control chamber. The valve control is spring biased to the normally closed position and is actuated by dumping all fluid from the control chamber through a poppet mechanism which is triggered mechanically through a sealing diaphragm. Upon dumping fluid from the metering chamber, the actuating cup is compressed by the pressure of the inlet fluids to roll the diaphragm to a substantially open position.
