  • Patent number: 4780694
Abstract: A filter system is composed of two identical filters coupled between an input waveguide and an output waveguide to provide a 4-port directional filter characteristic operable with quasi-elliptic linear modes of electromagnetic propagation within each of the filters. Each of the filters may be constructed of a plurality of cavities arranged serially, one behind the other, with one of the cavities in each of the filters being employed for coupling electromagnetic power between the two waveguides. The coupling is accomplished by use of a transverse slot and a longitudinal slot in each of the waveguides, the slots extending through sidewalls of the waveguides into walls of the cavity in each of the filters for symmetric and antisymmetric coupling, respectively, of longitudinal and transverse components of a transverse electric wave in each of the waveguides.

  • Patent number: 4780693
Abstract: A probe coupled waveguide multiplexer is provided including a first waveguide which serves as a multiplexing manifold; a second waveguide, having a cavity, typically a filter, which is probe coupled to the first waveguide; and a third waveguide which has a cavity and is probe coupled to the first waveguide such that the probe of said third waveguide is diametrically opposed to the probe of said second waveguide and the second and third waveguides are mounted in the same transverse plane in co-planar relation. The probe coupling method and apparatus disclosed herein allows the waveguide filters to be mounted on the manifold in a close physical relation thereby minimizing the length of the manifold and associated costs.

  • Patent number: 4777462
Abstract: A magnetostatic wave structure in which magnetostatic wave signals are coupled between discrete magnetostatic wave elements without the use of microstrip transducers. This structure consists of a plurality of blocks of ferrimagnetic material in which each block has an edge close enough to an edge of another block that a magnetostatic wave in the first of these blocks couples across the gap between these two edges into the second of these blocks. • Patent number: 4777455
Abstract: A power supply cord having a noise filter is used for connecting an electronic apparatus to a power source, the noise filter being mounted on the cord within 30 cm from the end thereof connected to the electronic apparatus of the noise generating source. Such a power supply cord is used even with an electronic apparatus that does not have a noise filter so that a countermeasure for noise is easily provided without the especially troublesome application of wiring within a shielding case for the electronic apparatus. Since the noise filter is positioned within 30 cm from the end of the power supply cord to be connected to the noise generating source, the power supply cord does not act as a radiation antenna for the noise band from the noise generating source so that the power supply cord eliminates noise from both ends effectively and has a superior filter characteristic.

  • Patent number: 4777459
Abstract: A microwave multiplexer has a set of independently tuneable signal channels coupled to a common waveguide. Each of the channels has input and output 3 dB couplers which are joined by cylindrical radiators carrying circularly polarized waves. Both TE and TM waves are propagated within a plurality of resonant cavities within each of the filters. Coupling between the cavities is provided by an array of slots and an array of probes wherein the slots couple TE waves and the probes couple TM waves. Adjustment of the slots and the probes provides for independent coupling coefficients for the two propagation modes. A set of coaxial line probe structures connect between the input and output couplers to end cavities of a filter for the launching of TM waves, there being discs in the end cavities adjacent the probes for converting energy of a TM wave to a TE wave, thereby providing both the TM and the TE wave propagation.

  • Patent number: 4777460
Abstract: A three-terminal type noise filter has a lead terminal of substantially U-like shape, two magnetic substance cores and a rectangular-plate-like-shaped capacitor which have surfaces which are parallel, the cores being inserted onto both legs of the lead terminal, the capacitor being disposed between the two magnetic substance cores, so that both the cores regulate movement of the capacitor, thereby improving positioning accuracy for the lead terminal and capacitor and raising the reliability of the filter characteristic. Also, one electrode of the capacitor and the head of the lead terminal are electrically connected with each other, a ground lead terminal connected to the other electrode of the capacitor is positioned between the two legs of the lead terminal, and the capacitor is disposed between the cores, thereby enabling the filter to be made small-sized as a whole.

  • Patent number: 4774483
Abstract: A magnetostatic wave resonator having a transducer oriented such that it is tangent at all points to a wavefront of a traveling wave component of a resonant mode of the resonant cavity. In a rectangular cavity of width L.sub.x and length L.sub.y, the transducer is perpendicular to the wavevector k=(m.pi./L.sub.x)e.sub.x +(n.pi./L.sub.y)e.sub.y for some nonzero integers m and n, whereby the transducer optimally transfers energy into the resonant mode that is a linear superposition of travelling waves that includes this wavevector. This enhances coupling into the resonant mode of interest and reduces the amount of coupling into spurious modes.

  • Patent number: 4768001
Abstract: A microwave phase shifter comprise a dielectric waveguide having a flat side and a moving conductor plane member substantially parallel to the waveguide side. Piezoelectric means are provided to move the plane member with respect to the waveguide side between a portion relatively remote from the waveguide side and an other position substantially in contact with the waveguide side. The piezoelectric means consists preferably of a stack of piezoelectric members supplied by a variable d.c. power source. Owing to the piezoelectric means for moving the conductor plane member, a variable phase shift is continuously adjusted. Such a phase shifter can be as an antenna network when the dielectric waveguide contains groups of radiator perturbations, such as conductor strips, respectively controlled by one or several piezoelectric means carrying conductor plates facing waveguide portions including the perturbations groups.
