  • Patent number: 11351913
Abstract: In an approach for determining the illumination necessary along a vehicle's planned trajectory, a processor receives information relevant to the trajectory of a vehicle. A processor estimates the position of the vehicle at the particular time on the trajectory of the vehicle, using the data from the sensors. A processor estimates an illumination of the trajectory of the vehicle, using the model of the illumination of the road network and the data from the sensors, wherein a threshold is employed. A processor determines the threshold is exceeded. A processor changes a setting of the at least one headlight on the vehicle. A processor determines the threshold is exceeded. A processor alerts the user of the vehicle when adjustments to the at least one headlight that are necessary to illuminate the trajectory of the vehicle exceed physical limitations of the at least one headlight.

  • Patent number: 11321914
Abstract: A point cloud or map of an environment is generated by determining sets of landmark points from multiple images, such as through use of a Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithm. Images acquired using a depth camera are used to determine depth points indicative of at least one object not represented by the landmark points. A combined map is generated to include both the landmark points and the depth points. The set of depth points is mapped to a corresponding set of landmark points based on proximity of the points, similarity of the camera poses, or times that the images were acquired. The relationship between the depth and landmark points may be determined. When the landmark points are moved, such as to account for error in the SLAM algorithm, the depth points may be moved to a modified location relative to the landmark points so that the relationship remains constant.

  • Patent number: 11305429
Abstract: In the following, a method for synchronizing the motion sequences of at least two robots will be described. In accordance with one embodiment, the method comprises the following: During operation of a robot cell having at least two robots, a path parameter is regularly calculated for each of the at least two robots based on a current position of the respective robot and on a previously specified robot path of the respective robot. The path parameter represents the current position of the robot. Subsequently, a run-ahead limit is calculated for each robot based on the path parameters determined for the respective other robots. Based on the respective calculated run-ahead limit, the path speed of every robot can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 11238733
Abstract: A social driving style learning framework or system for autonomous vehicles is utilized, which can dynamically learn the social driving styles from surrounding vehicles and adopt the driving style as needed. Each of the autonomous vehicles within a particular driving area is equipped with the driving style learning system to perceive the driving behaviors of the surrounding vehicles to derive a set of driving style elements. Each autonomous vehicle transmits the driving style elements to a centralized remote server. The server aggregates the driving style elements collected from the autonomous vehicles to determine a driving style corresponding to that particular driving area. The server transmits the driving style back to each of the autonomous vehicles. The autonomous vehicles can then decide whether to adopt the driving style, for example, to follow the traffic flow with the rest of the vehicles nearby.

  • Patent number: 11141861
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for operating a robot as well as to a correspondingly operated robotic system. As part of the method, it is determined, if a difference between a current position of the robot and a target position of the robot exceeds a predetermined threshold value while the robot is in a torque-regulated operating mode. If the difference exceeds the threshold value, a predicted model-based intermediate state that the robot reaches before the target position according to the model is determined, wherein a speed of the robot in the intermediate state is lower than a predetermined speed threshold. When the robot reaches the intermediate state, the robot is automatically switched from the torque-regulated operating mode to a position-regulated operating mode. The robot then moves into the target position in the position-regulated operating mode.
