  • Patent number: 6597097
Abstract: There is provided a cathode-ray tube including an envelope having a neck, a funnel and a panel fused to the funnel by using frit glass, the outside of the panel being near flat, the inside of the panel having a predetermined curvature, in which 1.7≦T2/T1≦2.3 when T1 is the thickness of the center of the panel and T2 is the thickness of the diagonal corner of the panel, and a panel inside tensile stress at the fused portion of the panel and funnel is less than −1.3876x+128.24 (Kgf/cm2) when the size of the effective picture area of the cathode-ray tube is x(unit: cm). The panel inside tensile stress at the fused portion of the panel and funnel is maintained below a predetermined value to mitigate breakage inside the furnaces that occurs when the cathode-ray tube having the panel whose outside is near flat and whose inside has a predetermined curvature is reproduced, thereby improving the salvage rate.

  • Patent number: 6580210
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an electron gun having a sub-assembly to interconnect the beaded unit and the base of the electron gun. This sub-assembly is manufactured by making a pattern of apertures in a planar element, thereby forming a number of securing elements. In the next step, portions of the securing elements are bent out of the plane of the planar element and then connected to an insulating plate, thus forming the sub-assembly of securing elements and insulating plate. This sub-assembly is preferably provided with funnel-shaped apertures to lead the electric leads of a number of gun electrodes through the insulating plate. This allows an accurate and easy interconnection of the electric leads and the pins of the base.

  • Patent number: 6573658
Abstract: A mercury lamp of the short arc type which can stably emit an intense spectrum at a wavelength of 365 nm with an extremely narrowed band region over a long time, and which has an anode and a cathode disposed opposite one another in a silica glass arc tube which is filled with mercury and a rare gas, is achieved by the amount of mercury being less than or equal to 1.0 mg/cc of the inside volume of the arc tube and at least one of the gases argon (Ar) and krypton (Kr) are used as the rare gas at room temperature with 1.0 to 8.0 atm.

  • Patent number: 6570318
Abstract: A color cathode ray tube and a getter assembly for use in such a cathode ray tube. The getter assembly comprises a conducting strip for contacting a high-voltage contact with a magnetic screening cone inside a cone portion of the tube. Due to the relatively large deflection angle of modern cathode ray tubes with flat display screens, the getter assembly has to be made smaller. The getter assembly of the invention has a notch for directly engaging the high voltage contact. In case of reworking during the manufacturing process, an operator can slide the new getter assembly with the aid of a special tool, from the neck side along the inner wall for engagement with the high-voltage contact.

  • Patent number: 6545404
Abstract: In a color display tube including an envelope including a front panel and a funnel, and an electron gun provided in a neck portion of the funnel, a horizontal outer diameter of the neck portion in a region on a rear end side is greater than a vertical outer diameter thereof in this region and a horizontal outer diameter thereof in a region on the front panel side, and a main lens of the electron gun is formed in the region on the rear end side. With this configuration, it is possible to achieve both an electric power saving and a high resolution in a display screen in a color display tube device, as well as to mount a deflection yoke in the color display tube easily.

  • Patent number: 6528934
Abstract: An electron gun for use in a cathode ray tube (CRT) includes a source of energetic electrons, i.e., a cathode, a beam forming region for forming the energetic electrons into a narrow beam, an arrangement for deflecting the beam over a display screen, and a focus arrangement for focusing the beam on the display screen in the form of a small spot in forming a video image. The beam forming region includes a G1 control grid, a G2 screen grid and a portion of a G3 grid in facing relation to the G2 grid, where each grid includes a respective aperture through which the electron beam is directed, with the apertures aligned along a common axis. The size of the aperture on the side of the G2 grid in facing relation to the G1 grid forms a first focusing lens and is smaller than the size of the aperture on the opposed side of the G2 grid in facing relation to the G3 grid which forms a second focusing lens.
