  • Patent number: 7869767
Abstract: A signal processing system according to various aspects of the present invention includes an excursion signal generator, a scaling system and a filter system. The excursion signal generator identifies a peak portion of a signal that exceeds a threshold and generates a corresponding excursion signal. The scaling system applies a real scale factor to contiguous sets of excursion samples in order to optimize peak-reduction performance. The filter system filters the excursion signal to remove unwanted frequency components from the excursion signal. The filtered excursion signal may then be subtracted from a delayed version of the original signal to reduce the peak. The signal processing system may also control power consumption by adjusting the threshold. The signal processing system may additionally adjust the scale of the excursion signal and/or individual channel signals, such as to meet constraints on channel noise and output spectrum, or to optimize peak reduction.

  • Patent number: 7869823
Abstract: A wireless intercom having a microcontroller that is programmed to place the intercom into a power saving sleep mode unless actively receiving or transmitting signals. The microcontroller of the intercom is interconnected to a transceiver for sending and receiving digital data packets, and to a codec for converting the digital packets to analog sound signals, and vice versa. The intercom receives digital transmission of data over a first channel and then corrects any errors in the digital data using a retransmission of the digital data over a second channel that is sufficiently spaced apart from the first channel to avoid the possibility of interference affecting both the first and second channels.

  • Patent number: 7857479
Abstract: The lighted helmet apparatus provides several features that aid both the wearer and those behind the wearer. The turn signals of the helmet are importantly arrow-shaped to be easily identified by following traffic, and appropriately located on left and right sides of the helmet. The running lights of the helmet importantly provide the elevated identification of operation to following motorists. The brake lights of the helmet importantly provide easily and centrally recognized braking of the wearer. The helmet wearer is reminded of turn signal functions by the front mounted signal reminders so that turn signals are not inadvertently left on, which is often the case in motorcycle and other such vehicular operation. Flush mounting of the individual lights within the helmet are an especially attractive feature and also one that prevents damage to the lights. The Bluetoothâ„¢ inclusion in the apparatus is a further advantage.

  • Patent number: 7856211
Abstract: Wireless communications transceivers include a transmitter that is configured to selectively frequency shift and transmit portions of broadband information over multiple non-contiguous narrowband frequency bands/segments, each of which is too narrow to carry the broadband information. A receiver also is configured to receive and selectively frequency shift portions of broadband information from multiple non-contiguous narrowband frequency bands/segments, each of which is too narrow to carry the second broadband information. Broadband information thereby may be transmitted and received in a regulated communications environment, even though a given provider may only be assigned discontinuous frequency bands/segments, none of which is wide enough to carry the entire broadband information.

  • Patent number: 7853216
Abstract: A method and system of optimizing transmit beam forming in a multiple radio wireless system is provided. A stimulus signal can be provided to an analog receive input of a device under test (DUT), wherein the DUT includes multiple radios. A receive phase and amplitude can be measured at baseband using the stimulus signal for each radio. At this point, a receive weight and its conjugate can be determined using the receive phases and amplitudes. A calibration vector and its conjugate can also be determined, wherein a product of the receive weight conjugate and the calibration vector conjugate generate a transmit weight. This transmit weight can be applied to transmit signals during the transmit beam forming using the multiple radios.

  • Patent number: 7853278
Abstract: Time required before PoC communication starts, in the case where a communication channel on the destination side has not been established, is shortened, and convenience of users is enhanced. A request for establishing a communication channel used for PoC communication is sent from a terminal TA. Immediately after receiving this request, call processing for establishing a communication channel to a terminal TC other than the terminal TA is started. In parallel with this call processing, processing after sending a response to the request is performed. Thereby, response to a communication channel connection request, SIP Registration processing and Invitation processing on the originating side and the processing on the destination side are performed in parallel, so that connection time can be shortened, and PoC communication can be started early.
