  • Patent number: 4675012
Abstract: The invention is generally accomplished by providing an absorbent pouch for the male genitalia that has a generally triangular opening wherein one side of the triangle is adapted to be worn flat against the upper genital region and the other two portions of the triangular opening extend into the crotch and meet behind the scrotum. The pouch extending downward from the triangular opening has sufficient capacity to comfortably contain the male genitalia, and the opening at the top is sufficient to allow air circulation. The allowance for air circulation decreases skin problems. The method for forming the device consists of folding a retangular sheet of composite material on a first fold line that is offset from the middle of the sheet. Next, the points forming the outer ends of the first fold line are folded toward each other so that they are adjacent. The newly formed edges are then folded inwardly toward each other a predetermined distance so as to form the generally triangular opening.

  • Patent number: 4674752
Abstract: A state or territory trivia game has a game board bearing a map or representation of a particular state or territory, and that representation is divided into eight color coded sections or regions. Each section represents a different region of the state or territory. On the sides of the board are smaller representations of the state or territory. These are used for the collection of game collection pieces. Game question and answer cards have eight questions relating to the history, geography, etc. of the respective regions of the state or territory, and the answers provided on the other side of the card. The card is arranged so that the answers cannot readily be seen as the question is being asked. The game begins with each player in the state capital or in some other predetermined city, and the player moves his or her piece a number of squares across the board in correspondence with the roll of a die or other randomizer.

  • Patent number: 4671511
Abstract: Improvements in adjustable and other racket handles and shafts consisting of an improved durable yet light weight simplified unitized or self-integral structure which is firmly fixable and readily releasable by fully concealed internal wedges which are operated by a single long screw inside the handle and accessible from the bottom end. The detachable interchangeable handles are made in a range of outer sizes available in sets or singly from stock. The handle also has improvements in end cap shape and function. It also has innovative improvements in cover material form and application this being the use of a single standard sized diameter and tubular length of special kind of cover material and a material-stretching and locking rod applied against the material to lock it into a concealed groove positioned lengthwise within the handle. This comprises a new application for a special kind of elastomeric synthetic leather material, in a new way which improves handles.

  • Patent number: 4664380
Abstract: A racket for playing a game using a ball of limited resiliency such as a tennis racket comprises a racket head frame portion provided with stringing, a handle, and a shaft arrangement connecting the racket head frame portion and the handle. The resonance frequency of the racket head frame portion at least approximately corresponds to the period of time for which a ball is in contact with the strings of the racket when struck thereby, and the natural frequency of the racket substantially corresponds to the excitation frequency of the ball. The thickness of the racket frame as measured in a direction normal to the plane of the stringing is greater than the thickness of the handle as measured in a corresponding direction.

  • Patent number: 4664381
Abstract: A grip for a tennis racket handle, the grip providing guides for proper gripping techniques and tending to discourage improper gripping techniques. A projection extends from the bottom of the handle to receive the forefinger both to place the forefinger and to provide a trigger for leverage in striking a ball. The side of the handle has a curved ridge, the rearward edge of which defines a thumb recess and the forward edge of which defines a trigger for a backhand grip. A knob rearwardly of the thumb recess defines the rear of the recess without obstructing other gripping techniques. A butt ridge provides a sufficient ridge to give the player a sure grip on the racket. The grip may be symmetrical, so the same grip can be used for both left-hand and right-hand gripping techniques.

  • Patent number: 4659080
Abstract: A racquet for use in tennis and racquet ball having an offset handle having an angular deviation of 13.degree. with respect to the longitudinal axis of the racquet. The handle may have a cross-sectional area having a round or oval shape. The oval configuration has a major axis which is in the same plane as a head of the racquet. Alternatively the handle can be provided, in cross section, with a plurality of faces preferably arranged in opposing pairs, the faces extending longitudinally of the handle. Preferably, the multi-sided configuration defines a cross-sectional hexagonal form which extends from the point of attachment to a head of the racquet to the free end of the handle.

  • Patent number: 4655455
Abstract: A sports racket having a head including a first frame within which is strung plural string elements interconnected to form a ball-engaging surface on each face of the racket, further comprises a second frame formed with a hand grip and first and second frame arms projecting outward therefrom. Each first and second frame arm has two welded points of connection with the first frame located respectively at upper and lower portions of the racket head. Upon impact of a ball with the string surface, impact force is transmitted to the second frame through the points of connection, permitting the racket head to flex between the points of connection so that the string surface remains generally parallel to the hand grip for improved controllability of the ball.

  • Patent number: 4655449
Abstract: Improved tennis racket including a head, a handle, and a two hand hollow elongated grip member. The head is strung with elastic strings installed within a selected range of tension to provide a selected coefficient of restitution. The handle has a flexure section of selected length and of selected stiffness extending from the head to the grip member. Recovery characteristics and stiffness are selected to provide a desired coefficient of restitution and playability for a designated style of racket. The grip member has an inner end, an outer end, and a first longitudinal opening extending from the outer end and terminating at a selected distance to receive a portion of the handle. A second larger opening extends inwardly from the outer end and adjoins the first recess to define an annular cavity around a portion of the flexure section and an outer periphery of selected length along the grip member.

  • Patent number: 4653759
Abstract: The disclosure is of a three-person chess game and board having a central playing area in the form of an equilateral triangle bordered at each of its three sides by a rectangular playing field or area having at least two rows of eight squares each according to at least part of the conventional chess or checker board. Each rectangular field is contiguous with its side of the triangle and moves are made from the rectangle into the triangle and subsequently into either of the other rectangles according to prescribed rules. At least some of the moves are dictated by an element of chance, such as the roll of one die. The rectangles are identical and three conventional chess sets are used, albeit these may be of contrasting colors as may be the markings of the chess board squares as well as the smaller triangles into which the basic central triangle is subdivided.

  • Patent number: 4651991
Abstract: A secondary covering for the gripped portion of manipulative handles having a primary non-slip covering is comprised of an elongated strip of terrycloth fabric having a doubly convergent taper at each extremity and two lengths of strong thin tether line attached to each extremity. The covering is adapted to be wound in spiral fashion about the handle, both extremities being secured by the tether lines to the handle, the tether lines of the upper extremity of the winding being secured with plastic adhesive tape. By virtue of its construction and manner of application, the covering provides a cushioned gripping surface relatively unaffected by moisture, and preserving the natural "feel" of the handle.
