  • Patent number: 12700708
Abstract: An amplifier operable with an electrical drive signal can amplify signal light having a signal wavelength. A laser diode has an active section with input and output facets. An optical isolator is integrated with a package that includes the laser diode. The active section is configured to generate pump light in response to injection of the electrical drive signal into the active section. The pump light has a pump wavelength different from the signal wavelength. A doped fiber doped with an active dopant is in optical communication with the signal light and is in optical communication with at least a portion of the pump light from the laser diode. The pump wavelength of the pump light is configured to interact with the active dopant of the fiber and thereby amplify the signal light.

  • Patent number: 12690308
Abstract: Solid-state lighting devices including light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and more particularly identification markers for LED packages and related methods are disclosed. Identification markers may include materials incorporated within LED packages that are transparent in a visible spectrum but detectable when illuminated with light outside the visible spectrum. When radiated with light outside the visible spectrum, identification markers may provide light in the visible spectrum. Alternatively, identification markers may provide light outside the visible spectrum that is detectable with equipment capable of detecting nonvisible light. Identification markers are generally configured to not be readily visible under inspection as a way to make LED packages more difficult for copying in counterfeit products.

  • Patent number: 12682188
Abstract: A card reader prevents a magnetic read head of the card reader from being able to read a magnetic strip of a card and forces the card reader to read card data from an embedded chip of the card instead of the magnetic strip. An electromagnetic noise interference signal is generated and is maintained within the card reader. The signal prevents a magnetic read head of the card reader and any skimmer present within the card reader from reading the magnetic strip of the card. In an embodiment, the signal is generated and maintained as long as the card reader is powered on. In an embodiment, the signal is generated when at least one sensor of the card reader detects a presence of the card proximate to a card slot of the card reader, within the card slot, or within the card reader adjacent to the magnetic read head.

Abstract: A magnetic strip of a card is read by a card reader while the card remains stationary and motionless within the card reader. The card is parked within the card reader in a read position. A dynamic read head of the card reader moves over the strip from a trailing edge of the inserted card to a leading edge of the card and then back from the leading edge of the card to the trailing edge of the card. A rate and speed of the read head is controlled during the passes of the read head over the strip. The card data of the strip is provided to a terminal during a transaction of a customer at the terminal.
