  • Patent number: 12164997
Abstract: A barcode reading application for a general-purpose computing device includes a motion detection module in addition to a decoding module. The motion detection module is configured to process image frames captured by a camera of the computing device for the purpose of performing motion detection. The barcode reading application can be configured so that the decoding module does not process captured image frames until motion has been detected in the camera's field of view. Because fewer processing resources are required for motion detection than for barcode reading, including motion detection capability in the barcode reading application can reduce processor usage in the computing device compared to a scenario where the decoding module is constantly processing captured image frames.

  • Patent number: 12159190
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for locating small indicia in large images are disclosed herein. An example method includes: identifying an aiming pattern zone that includes a detected or presumed location of an aiming light pattern, wherein an offset between the location and a center of image data varies due to a parallax; determining one or more coordinates of the aiming pattern zone; capturing image data representing an image of an environment appearing within a field of view (FOV) of a scanner including the indicia; encoding the one or more coordinates into a tagline of the image; and providing the image with the tagline to an indicia decoder such that the indicia decoder attempts to decode the indicia from the image data starting in a region of the image data selected based upon the one or more coordinates.

  • Patent number: 12154669
Abstract: A system and method that enables users to provide authenticated medical records (e.g., vaccination records, viral anti-body test results, etc.) to a third-party (e.g., a venue) to gain access to the third-party is provided. In this way, the third party may confirm that the user is sufficiently immune to a particular disease (e.g., COVID-19) and may thereby minimize the threat of the user introducing the contagious disease to the third party. The system includes a biometric data recognition system that authenticates the identity of a user, a medical records acquisition system that acquires the medical records of the authenticated user, and a system for the displaying or otherwise providing the medical records to the third-party for review. The system also includes a system identification card that includes the user's contact information, alphanumeric characters associated with the user's driver's license number, medical records of the user, and other elements.

  • Patent number: 12136322
Abstract: In some implementations, a system for verifying items in a retail environment includes a physical shopping cart including a first set of sensors, and an automated checkout station including a second, different set of sensors. The physical shopping cart receives item verification data for verifying an item, detects the item as it enters the physical shopping cart, and performs a primary verification of the item. The automated checkout station obtains a virtual shopping cart that corresponds to the physical shopping cart. The virtual shopping cart includes a list of items that have been placed in the physical shopping cart, and a verification status of each item. The second, different set of sensors generate station sensor data that represents the physical shopping cart and the items in the physical shopping cart. A secondary verification of the physical shopping cart and its contents is performed by the automated checkout station.
