  • Patent number: 5823087
Abstract: A punch press having connecting rods which face away from each other are arranged on the eccentric shaft, and each connecting rod is coupled to a connecting lever. Two toggle joint mechanism units are connected to one connecting lever. Two further toggle joint mechanism units are connected to the other connecting lever extending in the opposite direction. The first named toggle joint mechanism units are connected via pressure columns to a first ram. The second named toggle joint mechanism units are connected via further pressure columns to a second ram. Due to the driving structural members which are arranged symmetrically distributed relative to the eccentric shaft of the punch press and the two rams arrived that thereby, the punch press can feature an extremely long space for receipt of the tools without that the height of the punch press, the allowable rated loading and the moving masses must be held overally large.

  • Patent number: 5819613
Abstract: Saw mill apparatus and method are disclosed which provide improved cutting of logs. The saw mill apparatus supports and advances a log towards the saw mill's saw assembly and cuts the log longitudinally by a pair of parallel band saws. Blade guides are mounted to the blades of each of the band saws and are movable along the blades toward and away from the log being cut. The diameter of the log is sensed at plural longitudinal positions thereof and the blade guides are displaced along the band saw blades in response to each of the sensed diameters so that the blade guides are continuously positioned in close proximity to the log while it is being cut.

  • Patent number: 5819622
Abstract: An apparatus and related method for automatically infeeding workpieces to a saw includes a first workpiece that is selected at an input station. A servo-driven friction belt system is connected to the input station, and advances the workpiece under a pattern projection system. The pattern projection system causes a pattern to be projected onto the first workpiece. The pattern is one of a plurality of patterns corresponding to the blade configuration of a fixed arbor gang rip saw. An operator may select alternate patterns, and/or may skew the board to select the desired cut. A pinch roller system is provided for removing the workpiece from the friction belt system and moving the workpiece into the saw, while maintaining the desired skew, if any. Also provided is a sensor for measuring the board width while moving on the friction belt system, where the width is input to a computer controlling the infeed system and which determines the optimum pattern.

  • Patent number: 5819623
Abstract: A pair of symmetrical positioning clamps are provided for use in a table-top circular saw. Each positioning clamp essentially comprises a support plate with an increasing width toward an abutment plate which is connected to the support plate at right angles. Also, an elongated slot is formed approximately along the center line of the support plate. Furthermore, the support plate is arranged obliquely relative to the abutment plate so that the center line of the elongated slot is at an angle of 60.degree. to the abutment plate. The two positioning clamps are fixed to both wing portions of the circular saw by tightening wing bolts inserted into holes in the wing portions via the elongated slots. To clamp a work piece, the wing bolts are loosened with the work piece pressed against a fence of the circular saw. Then, the abutment plates are slid until they firmly abut on the work piece.

  • Patent number: 5819631
Abstract: A foam contouring machine has first and second rollers mounted to a machine frame for rotation about mutually parallel axes. The first and second rollers have different diameters and define between them a nip. A cutting edge is mounted for cutting foam material drawn through the nip by rotation of the rollers. Each roller has a drive motor, and a controller is connected to each drive motor for independently controlling the speed of rotation of the rollers, the controller equalizing the speed of surface rotation of the rollers for rollers of different diameters. The first roller may be a pattern roller and the second roller may be a backup or compression roller. The machine also has a drive coupling assembly, which has selectable first and second modes of operation for converting operation of the machine between a foam surfacing and a foam profiling operation. The first mode independently couples each of the motors to a corresponding one of the rollers.

  • Patent number: 5819615
Abstract: A process for cutting food products, especially brittle food products such as frozen fish. The process involves mounting a cutting blade on an ultrasonic system in a manner such that the blade is vibrated parallel to the out face and the aspect of travel of ultrasound down the blade is approximately 90.degree. to the cutting edge of the blade. The cutting blade has a significantly blunted tip. The cutting is effected, at least in part, by localised heating of the food product. The process permits cutting of brittle food products into portions with minimum wastage. Fracturing is also reduced thus allowing the portion size to be accurately controlled and providing a final portion having smooth surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5819621
Abstract: An electric cable guiding device includes a fixed guide block and a movable guide block. A projected round surface is formed in the fixed guide block, and an indented round surface is formed in the movable guide block. In addition, a groove is formed in the indented round surface. At the time of guiding an electric cable, the movable guide block is fitted in the fixed guide block. In this state, the indented round surface and the groove constitute an electric cable guide path. The electric cable is fed into the electric cable guide path by rollers. Consequently, the electric cable is guided in a U shape along the electric cable guide path. The front end of the electric cable drawn out of the electric cable guide path is clamped. Thereafter, the movable guide block is moved to an electric cable measuring position that is spaced apart from the fixed guide block by a predetermined distance. In this state, the electric cable is fed by a required length.

  • Patent number: 5816127
Abstract: A continuous cutter for severing pieces of equal length from a coiled elongate article "T" includes a movable stand which carries a shiftable clamp. The cutter also includes a fixed clamp. The shiftable and fixed clamps are driven relatively to one another to clamp or unclamp the article "T" fed from an uncoiler and to advance it in an intermittent manner for the production of flat tubes used to construct a heat exchanger. For this purpose, a cutter blade on the movable stand severs the elongate article into lengths during the forward advance of the stand, in such a manner that the lengths are cut accurately, efficiently and at a reduced production cost. A stretcher may be added to the cutter in order to impart a the moving article "T".
