Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide a key generation method, applied to a scenario in which a base station is divided into a centralized unit and a distributed unit and a control plane and a user plane of the centralized unit are separated. And the control plane entity of the centralized unit obtains a root key, generates a user plane security key based on the root key, and sends the first user plane security key to the user plane entity of the first centralized unit. According to this application, key isolation between different user plane entities is implemented. Further, in an actual operation, the control plane entity or the user plane entity of the centralized unit may be flexibly selected to generate the user plane security key.

  • Patent number: 11533609
Abstract: A message protection method and an apparatus are disclosed. The method includes: When a terminal prepares to hand over from a first-standard system to a second-standard system, the terminal may not have a security context of the second-standard system after handover. Therefore, in the method of the present disclosure, the terminal performs integrity protection on a registration request message and a location update request message by using an integrity key in a security context of the first-standard system before handover. Both the registration request message and the location update request message are messages for triggering handover. Therefore, in the method, security protection is implemented on the message for triggering handover, thereby helping improve communication security.

  • Patent number: 11528591
Abstract: This application provides example network slicing-based communication methods and apparatuses. One example method includes receiving, by a radio access network device, a registration request from user equipment, where the registration request includes first information and second information, where the first information is used to indicate a type of a first network slice, and where the second information is used to identify a first network slice instance in the first network slice. The radio access network device can then determine an access and mobility management function network element based on the type of the first network slice and the first network slice instance. The radio access network device can then send the registration request to the access and mobility management function network element, where the first information and the second information are used for network slice instance determining.

  • Patent number: 11510124
Abstract: Cross-optimization in wireless mobile networks. In an embodiment, a demand map is received for each of a plurality of networks. The demand map represents demand at a plurality of geographic locations in at least one cell of the network. Based on the demand maps, an optimal transfer of demand is generated between the plurality of networks at one or more of the plurality of geographic locations at which the plurality of networks overlap. Then, one or more parameters, to be used by at least one of the plurality of networks in a handover procedure, is determined, so as to produce the optimal transfer of demand between the plurality of networks at the one or more geographic locations at which the plurality of networks overlap.

  • Patent number: 11470446
Abstract: Methods and techniques are described for supporting location services for a user equipment (UE) in a Fifth Generation wireless network using a Location Management Function (LMF) based control plane (CP) location solution. The LMF serves as the main anchor point for location support instead of an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF). The LMF may be in either a serving Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) for a UE or in a Home PLMN for a roaming UE. The LMF may obtain location information for a UE via an AMF from a Next Generation Radio Access Network or the UE and may interact with a Gateway Mobile Location Center to receive location requests from and return location information to an external client. The LMF solution may be more efficient and require less implementation than an AMF based CP location solution.

  • Patent number: 11463877
Abstract: Aspects for carrier-based blocking of contraband telecommunication devices are disclosed. In one such aspect, an entity (broadly referenced as a contractor) establishes a network at a correctional facility to collect raw data including telecommunications signaling and identifier data during a preconfiguration period. The data is then stored in a memory and processed by a processing system to determine devices that may be contraband. After the Department of Corrections (DOC) authorizes the activity by the contractor to control the devices, the contractor may send a list of contraband devices to the GSMA, the international carrier governing body, or an affiliate or designee thereof, to include in its database(s) this information. The carriers may prevent access by the contraband devices to remote networks by using a database from which an indicator can be provided when access is attempted.

  • Patent number: 11445426
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for setting handover thresholds and dynamically initiating handovers based on antenna parameters and wireless device location. A processor identifies an antenna having a sector power ratio exceeding a predefined threshold. Undesirable locations for wireless devices relative to the antenna are determined based on stored information and a first handover threshold is set for wireless devices served by the antenna and in undesirable locations. When a wireless device is found in the undesired location and the sector power ratio exceeds the predefined threshold, the first handover threshold is met. A handover may be initiated.

  • Patent number: 11432260
Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for an indication that a unified access control (UAC) parameter of a user equipment (UE) has changed. For example, a paging message or direct indication information may be provided to a UE indicating that a UAC parameter has changed. In such a case, the UE may not be expected to periodically check a scheduling information list of a system information block type 1 (SIB1). Thus, battery power of UEs may be conserved and signaling resources that would otherwise be used to periodically check the scheduling information list may be conserved.
