Patent number: 5960576Abstract: A hand-held analog calculator apparatus, and method for use thereof in the field, in association with firearms. The apparatus permits the user of a high-powered rifle equipped with a telescopic sight having a mildot reticle to quickly determine the range to target and the necessary elevation adjustment to compensate for bullet drop. Various logarithmic scales are disposed upon two rule members which slide parallel past each other. The scales display values corresponding to the mildot measurement, estimated target size, known bullet drop, and the like. By manipulating the rule members to align certain selected marks on particular scales, first the range to target value and then the necessary gun sight elevation adjustment and/or sight hold-over values are displayed on other scales. Optional components and scales also permit the user to determine any vertical angle between the user and the target, and calculate the horizontal distance to target for purposes of compensating for bullet drop.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1998Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Inventor: Bruce N. Patent number: 5941005Abstract: A safety and bolt assembly system for firearms, particularly for a shotgun. A firing pin is slideable within an opening in the gun's bolt to strike a shell in the gun. The firing pin being movable between a first position in which it is aligned with the opening and capable of sliding movement to strike the shell and a second position in which it is out of alignment with the opening and incapable of sliding movement to strike the shell. The gun safety system includes a spring for urging the firing pin away from the shell and an angled slot for moving and retaining the firing pin away from the shell when the bolt is in the second position. A link is adapted to connect the bolt/slide to a bolt operating system, a pin is secured to one of the bolt/slide or link, and a slot is present in the other of the bolt/slide or link to receive the pin. The slot is angled rearward to prevent movement of the pin from the slot during movement of the bolt/slide in the direction of the link.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1998Date of Patent: August 24, 1999Assignee: O.F. Patent number: 5937563Abstract: The present invention discloses a firearms safety system for adapting conventional handheld firearms to fire non-deadly simulated training ammunition, which system provides a series of gas relief ports and passages to prevent the successful firing of live ammunition in the firearm. The system can be advantageously utilized in modified M16 type military type rifles which have been previously adapted to fire pistol cartridges such as the 9 mm and .40 S&W calibers. The system is also particularly advantageous for use in handheld firearms such as pistols and revolvers, as well as in conventional long guns such as bolt action rifles, and all shotguns.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1998Date of Patent: August 17, 1999Inventors: Robert C. Patent number: 5937558Abstract: An electrically discharged and gas operated firearm basically has of a main body with a gun barrel being attached to a front surface. A chute is defined vertically through the main body. A cartridge holding cassette slides into the chute. The cassette functions as both a clip and a firing chamber. A gas operated piston operates a slide that is used in moving and positioning the cassette in the chute as the firearm is being fired. A gas port from barrel to the piston port provides a path for the gases. A pulldown link operated by the slide engages the cassette to position the cassette as the piston operates. An indexer link engages the cassette to hold the cassette in a specific position for firing. A wedge shaped clutch within the main body maintains contact between the front face of the cassette and the back face of the front plate on the main body. An electrical trigger is attached to the front of the main body.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1998Date of Patent: August 17, 1999Inventor: Donald G. Gerard

Patent number: 5934001Abstract: An archery adaptation for a tamping Rod Assembly which serves as a stabilizer adapter for an archery bow to be secured to the slide, and slide rod assembly of the tamping rod assembly by providing a stabilizer adapter for securing the slide rod to the stabilizer base on the archery bow, and at the opposite end of the slide rod assembly, providing a puller-adapter for an arrowhead. The method of the present invention is practiced by utilizing the slide rod assembly of the tamping rod assembly when the broadhead puller-adapter is applied. As a stabilizer, the combination of the slide rod assembly connects the arrowhead puller-adapter at the remote end, and the stabilizer adapter secures the same to the bow at the near end facing the archer. In the stabilizer mode, the slider is empirically moved forwardly and rearwardly to accommodate the "recoil" experienced by the archer.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1998Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Inventors: Chriss L. Patent number: H1805Abstract: This invention discloses a method and apparatus for properly placing copy sheets from a high speed copy machine into an exit tray. The invention utilizes a variable speed motor to control the rollers which reside at the end of the paper path. One or more paper guides mounted to the drive rollers, enable the motor to operate over a wide range of speeds, yet still work efficiently. The motor accelerates to its highest speed as the copy sheet enters the nip between the drive and idler rollers, and is decelerated to its slowest speed as the trailing edge of the copy sheet exits the nip. The trailing edge of the copy sheet then moves off of the roller and onto the paper guide. The speed of the motor can then be increased without having to wait for the copy sheet to move into the output area. This substantially reduces the period of time required to reproduce copies.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1996Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Jason P.
