  • Patent number: 8891625
Abstract: A method of performing video stabilization may be applied to unstable frames captured by a vibrating camera. The method includes checking if the frame is vibrating and calculating a degree of vibration for compensating a vibration area. Based on block motion estimation, a feature block selected from nine fixed observation blocks is used to obtain a vibration vector. The vibration vector is used to adjust the vibration frame for restoring the frame.

  • Patent number: 8885712
Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with image frame management are described. According to one embodiment, an apparatus includes classifier logic to categorize frames that represent an image as either reference frames or non-reference frames, where the categorization is based, at least in part, on motion vectors between the frames. The apparatus further includes management logic to store the reference frames and to delete the non-reference frames. Image generation logic may then reproduce the image by using the stored reference frames.

  • Patent number: 8878936
Abstract: Tracking and counting wheeled transportation apparatuses is disclosed. Initially, three or more first images are received from a first camera having a first field of view, where the three or more first images show multiple wheeled transportation apparatuses traversing a portion of a roadway. Next, first and second static characteristics and first and second dynamic characteristics of a first of the multiple wheeled transportation apparatuses are determined. It is then determined that the second static characteristic is approximately equal to the first static characteristic and that the second dynamic characteristic is approximately equal to the first dynamic characteristic. Next, it is determined that the first wheeled transportation apparatus is traversing the portion of the roadway based on the comparisons. A count of the number of wheeled transportation apparatuses traversing the portion of the roadway is then incremented. Finally, the count is indicated.

  • Patent number: 8866893
Abstract: Imaging apparatus performs controlling to read pixel information from pixels belonging to target area by each frame. One frame period is period from when an exposure period for exposing pixels on a horizontal line that is to be read first from among horizontal lines belonging to the target area of a sensor is started and until when reading of the pixel information generated by each of the pixels on the horizontal line is completed. The imaging apparatus sequentially emits, by each illumination period of a length corresponding to at least two frame periods, illumination lights in synchronization with start of the exposure period. The imaging apparatus performs a predetermined controlling by performing controlling to exclude, from predetermined processing target, image data corresponding to the pixel information read during first frame period of the illumination period, while by acquiring image data corresponding to the pixel information read during other frame period.

  • Patent number: 8848040
Abstract: A 3D display system uses a lenticular screen or a parallax barrier, along with a shutter plate, as a light directing device to allow a viewer's right eye to see a right image and the left eye to see a left image on a display panel. The right and left images are alternately displayed. The shutter plate has a plurality of right shutter segments and a plurality of left shutter segments arranged in an interleaving manner. When the right image is displayed, the right shutter segments are open and the left shutter segments are closed. When the left image is displayed, the right shutter segments are closed and the left shutter segments are open. But when the 3D display panel is used as a 2D display panel, both the right and left shutter segments are all open so that both the viewer's eyes see the image simultaneously.
