Patent number: 8824553Abstract: A method of compressing video data having at least one frame having at least one block and each block having an array of pixels is provided. The method transforms the pixels of each block into coefficients and creates an optimal transmission order of the coefficients. The method also optimizes the speed of processing compressed video data by partitioning the data bitstream and coding each partition independently. The method also predicts fractional pixel motion by selecting an interpolation method for each given plurality or block of pixels depending upon at least one metric related to each given block and varies the method from block to block. The method also enhances error recovery for a current frame using a frame prior to the frame immediately before the current frame as the only reference frame for lessening quality loss during data transmission. Enhanced motion vector coding is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2003Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Eric Ameres, James Bankoski, Scott Lavarnway, Yaowu Xu, Dan Miller, Adrian Grange, Paul Wilkins

Patent number: 8817100Abstract: Tracking vehicles is disclosed. Initially, two or more first images from a first camera having a first field of view are received. Next, a first static characteristic and a first dynamic characteristic of a first vehicle are determined based on the two or more first images. Next, two or more second images from a second camera having a second field of view are received. A second static characteristic and a second dynamic characteristic of the first vehicle are determined based on the two or more second images. The first characteristics and the second characteristics are compared to determine that the second characteristics are approximately equal to the first characteristics of the first vehicle. Finally, it is indicated that the first vehicle is present in the second field of view of the second camera.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2014Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Cloudparc, Inc.Inventors: Steven David Nerayoff, Thompson S. Patent number: 8767820Abstract: A system employs adaptive data rate reduction of rendered pixel data for wireless transmission between a source device and a display device. The source device determines the display properties of the display device and the current available bandwidth of a wireless channel connecting the source device to the display device. The source device adjusts a data rate reduction process that is applied to the rendered pixel data before the resulting pixel data is wirelessly transmitted based on these parameters. In response to a change in the data rate reduction process, the source device further can transmit to the display device an indicator that identifies the current data rate reduction type and effective compression ratio being applied by the source device. The display device can use this indicator to configure the processing of the rendered pixel data at the display device so as to mirror or otherwise comply with the particular data rate reduction process applied by the source device.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 2009Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Dell Products, LPInventor: Bruce C. Patent number: 8761259Abstract: The motion estimation techniques and video encoding device(s) described use a two dimensional pipeline to generate accurate motion estimation parameters for a current video block. The two dimensional pipeline uses previously calculated motion estimation parameters of relevant neighboring video blocks, including a preceding video block on a same row as the current video block, prior to the generation of the accurate motion vectors, motion vector predictors, and mode decision of the current video block. The use of the two dimensional pipeline allows accurate motion vector prediction from neighboring video blocks previously not available, in the computation of motion vectors. Three engines may be used in the two dimensional pipeline, a fetch engine, an integer search engine and a fractional and spatial search engine. While the fetch engine and fraction and spatial search engine operate on one row, the integer search engine operates on another row.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2006Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Kai Wang, Narendranath Malayath, Raghavendra C.
