  • Patent number: 11502766
Abstract: The precision time protocol (PTP) runs on the peer switches in an MLAG domain. PTP messages received by one peer switch on an MLAG interface is selectively peer-forwarded to the other peer switch on the same MLAG interface in order to coordinate a synchronization session with a PTP node. The peer-forwarded messages inform one peer switch to be an active peer and the other peer switch to be an inactive peer so that timestamped messages during the synchronization session are exchanged only between the PTP node and the active peer, and hence take the same data path.

  • Patent number: 11381512
Abstract: A port extender provides individual flow control for ports multiplexed from a network device. The port extender is configured to multiplex a network device port across the front panel ports on the port extender. The port extender also determines that passing traffic through one of the front panel ports is degraded due to network congestion, and generates a flow control message identifying the front panel port. The port extender sends the flow control message via the network device port to the network device. The flow control message causes the network device coupled to the network device port to discontinue sending data for transmission from the degraded port.

  • Patent number: 11356354
Abstract: Systems and methods provide congruent bidirectional Segment Routing (SR) tunnels, namely congruent and fate-shared traffic forwarding for bidirectional SR tunnels. A bidirectional SR tunnel, as described herein, includes two unidirectional SR tunnels where the forward and reverse traffic directions follow the same path through the network when forwarded based on prefix and adjacency Segment Identifiers (SIDs). The term “congruent” is used herein to refer to the fact that the two unidirectional SR tunnels, i.e., the forward and reverse traffic directions, follow the same path through the network but in opposite directions. The guarantee of congruency is based on modification of the Segment Identifier (SID) configuration at the source nodes of each tunnel. Accordingly, the present disclosure maintains compatibility with existing Segment Routing configurations with the modifications solely at the source nodes.
