  • Patent number: 11488618
Abstract: Different embodiments on hearing enhancement enhancing a user's hearing. For example, a system can include an interface unit with a directional speaker and a microphone. The microphone captures input audio signals that are transformed into ultrasonic signals. The speaker transmits the ultrasonic signals, which are transformed into output audio signals by interaction with air. At least part of the output audio signals is modified to enhance the hearing of the user. Based on the system, the user's ear remains free from any inserted objects and thus is free from annoying occlusion effects. Compared to existing hearing aids, the system is relatively inexpensive. In another embodiment, the system can also be used as a phone. In another embodiment, the system can also access audio signals from other portable or non-portable instruments, wired or wirelessly, such as from home entertainment units, phones, microphones at a conference or speakers at a movie theater.

  • Patent number: 11477426
Abstract: Video conferencing systems are popular means for remote parties to interact in real-time. A user may wish to emphasize certain visual elements of the video conference, for example, a company's logo or the contents of a whiteboard may be important to remain clearly seen by the viewers of the video conference. As elements are obscured, a previously captured image of the obscured visual element may be overlaid on top of the obscuring image to visual remove the obscuring object. Additionally, certain visual elements may be enhanced, such that a small visual element may appear larger or clearer within the video image.

  • Patent number: 11463336
Abstract: Electronic conferences allow participants to join lectures, meetings, and other events remotely via connection of a computing device to a network. The quality received by each node may not be ideal, or even satisfactory. Presenters of the conference content are made aware of the state of the participants by determining, at the end device receiving the conference, a quality of the conference. A monitoring node, such as a communication device utilized by a presenter, may then provide indications of the quality received.

  • Patent number: 11451746
Abstract: Systems and methods to improve video conferencing may include various improvements and modifications to image and audio data to simulate mutual presence among users. For example, automated positioning and presentation of image data of users via presentation devices may present users at a position, size, and scale to simulate mutual presence of users within a same physical space. In addition, rendering image data of users from virtual camera positions via presentation devices may simulate mutual eye gaze and mutual presence of users. Further, blending a background, or accentuating a user, within image data that is presented via presentation devices may match visual characteristics of the environment or the user to simulate mutual presence of users. Moreover, dynamic steering of individual audio transducers of an audio transducer array, and simulating audio point sources using a combination of speakers, may simulate direct communication and mutual presence of users.

  • Patent number: 11445148
Abstract: Discrepancies between a current profile picture and a current visual appearance of the user is detected utilizing image data captured during a video teleconference, and potential updates to the user's profile picture are automatically generated and presented to the user for their consideration and selection. Additionally, for greater efficiency, an automated profile picture update process is triggerable by predetermined conditions or events, including hardware conditions, lighting or other environmental conditions, or events detected through other sensors, including concurrent audio analysis of the user during the video teleconference. A set of images, whether still pictures or live pictures, are obtained from the video information. Such an image set is initially filtered to create a smaller subset, which is then graphically modified. An image is selected and compared to an existing user profile image, with the comparison informing the generation of a user notification for choosing a new profile picture.
