Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a print engine configured to perform printing on a recording medium, a job issuing unit configured to issue a print job, two print control units configured to control the print engine in accordance with the issued print job, and a job allocating unit configured to allocate the print job to an appropriate print control unit, among the two print control units. If a last print job that is issued is for a first print control unit, the control of the print engine by the first print control unit in accordance with the last print job allocated to the first print control unit is not completed, and a next print job that is issued is for a second print control unit, the job allocating unit is configured to place on standby the allocation of the next print job to the second print control unit.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus receives print data including text attribute information, and performs specific image processing defined in the print data in advance. Abstract: A method of determining one or more performance metrics associated with a print shop may include identifying one or more historical print jobs from a historical print job database. Each historical print job may include a historical print job type and historical job content information. The method may include generating, by a computing device, one or more synthetic print jobs based on the historical job type and historical job content information associated with the identified historical print jobs, and determining, by the computing device, one or more performance metrics associated with processing the one or more synthetic print jobs by a print shop.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus that, when contents are obtained from a reliable Web server set in advance, hides an address bar so as to make effective use of a display region of an operation unit in displaying the contents. Contents corresponding to a designated address are obtained from a Web server. The obtained contents are analyzed and displayed on a display unit. The designated address is displayed on the display unit. Obtainment control is provided such that when the designated address is a specific address, obtainment of contents is permitted, and when the designated address is not the specific address, obtainment of contents is inhibited. When contents are displayed while the obtainment control is being carried out, an address is hidden, and when contents are displayed while the obtainment control is not being carried out, an address is displayed.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus that improves operability, productivity and flexibility in print setting when collectively executing print jobs. If a print instruction is input, a job list display unit determines whether the instruction is directed to a plurality of job data items. If the instruction is directed to a plurality of job data items, it is determined whether or not to allow the user to confirm output settings for each individual print job. If the user confirms the output settings, a user interface for making a change to the output settings associated with each individual print job is displayed. The displayed output settings are the output settings saved together with the job data item. If the user does not confirm the output settings, the user interface is not displayed, and output settings and the corresponding job data item are associated with each other, and they are transferred to a printer.

Abstract: A customized print job duplication method implemented in a print shop management system that includes a data processing apparatus having a non-transitory memory for storing a software program and a processor for executing the software program, wherein the software program includes program code configured to cause the data processing apparatus to execute a customized print job duplication process, which includes the steps of providing print job duplication options to allow selection of which sub-sections of a first print job will be duplicated, duplicating from the first print job the sub-sections selected for duplication, and creating a second print job with existing data and a set of settings to be applied to a second document processing job, the set including the settings duplicated from the first print job in the duplicated sub-sections.

Abstract: An output control data generating device for controlling an output device includes a character selection unit that receives a selection of a desired character code set and a desired character from a group containing at least one character code set that can be used on the output control data generating device; a font selection unit that receives a selection of output font data, which is information for outputting the selected character to the output device, from among a plurality of different font groups disposed to the output device; a mapping unit that produces a font group definition file that stores the selected character mapped to the output font data; and an output control unit that controls output to the output device, using the font group definition file.

Abstract: A method is suitable for processing a plurality of electronic documents designated for processing and delivery to a plurality of recipients, each recipient having a zip code associated therewith. Each electronic document is assigned a plurality of attributes, and the documents are sorted into one or more attribute groups based on the attributes, such that the electronic documents of each attribute group share at least one of the attributes. Output groups are then formed from the electronic documents of each attribute group based on the zip code associated with each electronic document, such that the electronic documents of each output group have similar zip codes. The output groups can then be routed to processing sites for processing the electronic documents to form physical documents for delivery to the recipients.

Abstract: A variable data printing (VDP) method is disclosed in which different types of contents on each piece of the VDP production, such as color form contents and black and white contents, are printed using different types of printers, such as color printers and black and white printers, respectively. The color form content is printed first to form partially printed sheets. Partially printed sheet carrying different color contents are loaded into different input trays of the black and white printers. The black and white content is printed on the partially printed sheets using the black and white printers. When printing the black and white content, the color data in the input VDP data is excluded. The job tickets for the black and white print jobs specify the input trays to be used so that the appropriate partially printed sheet is selected for each black and white print job.

Abstract: In a network printer, in order to handle tincture variations, if all the waiting print jobs are held in two types of formats, that is, PDL and half-tone print data generated by expanding the PDL, a required memory capacity is increased. Moreover, if the tincture variations occurs, all the waiting print jobs need rendering again. When the print job is to be stored, the received PDL is expanded, continuous-tone data is generated, and the continuous-tone data is JPEG-compressed. If a compression rate is high, the print job (print image data) is stored in the JPEG format. Even if the compression rate is low, storage of only the PDL or of PDL and the half-tone print data is selected according to expansion time of the PDL.

Abstract: A method for increasing a page yield of an inkjet printer that includes receiving a plurality of print jobs for printing at the inkjet printer, adding the plurality of print jobs to a job queue, calculating a first cumulative amount of ink for use by the inkjet printer to print on media for all of the plurality of print jobs at once, calculate a second cumulative amount of ink for use to maintain the inkjet printer for printing the plurality of print jobs at once, calculating a cumulative page yield for printing all of the plurality of print jobs in the job queue at once by the inkjet printer based on the calculated first and second cumulative amounts of ink, determining whether the cumulative page yield is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold, and upon the determination that the cumulative page yield is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold, directing the inkjet printer to print the plurality of print jobs at once.

Abstract: A printing control apparatus includes a spooler which spools a received print job in a print queue and outputs the print job, a print job management unit which holds a print job output from the spooler, and manages transmission of a print job to a printing apparatus and whether a print job is complete in the printing apparatus, and a display control unit which displays the processing status of a print job that is spooled in the print queue and managed by the print job management unit.

Abstract: A computerized device receives a print job from a printing device. The computerized device is operatively connected to the printing device and to a plurality of different printing devices through a computerized network. Further, the print job has one of many file formats and one of many ticketing types. If the file format and/or the ticketing type of the print job do not match one of many acceptable format types and acceptable ticketing types acceptable to the printing device, the computerized device converts the file format and/or the ticketing type of the print job into one of the acceptable format types and/or the acceptable ticketing types to produce a converted print job. The computerized device sends the converted print job to the printing device over the computerized network to allow the printing device to print the converted print job.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a file management unit that manages files for image output, a file registration unit that registers the files, an output-configuration-information management unit that manages output configuration information, an output-configuration-information registration unit that registers the output configuration information, a data creation unit that creates the data in accordance with the output configuration information, and an output determination unit. When the file registration unit registers each of the files to the file management unit, the output determination unit determines whether the combined image can be outputted in accordance with certain output conditions. The output-configuration-information management unit registers predetermined output configuration information for the combined image and adds an output condition of the file that can be outputted to the output configuration information of the combined image.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a first image data storage unit that (i) stores user identification information and image data in association with each other, (ii) acquires, upon reception of a leaving signal regarding a specific user from an entering/leaving information management device that manages entering/leaving of a user with respect to an area in which the image forming apparatus is installed, the image data having a security level equal to or higher than a first predetermined level associated with the user identification information of the specific user stored in the first image data storage unit, (iii) saves the acquired image data to a server, and (iv) erases the original image data from the first image data storage unit.

Abstract: A method can be used for processing electronic documents, each of which are assigned a plurality of attributes. The documents are sorted into one or more groups based on the attributes, such that the electronic documents of each group share at least one of the attributes. The attributes of the documents in each group are analyzed to determine an appropriate processing site for each group, and then the groups are each routed to their respective processing sites determined to be appropriate therefor.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus is provided with an area sensor which is formed by arranging sensor components for a pixel in a two-dimensional array and is attached in an inclined manner with respect to a reference installation position. The apparatus has a sensor unit which reads, from the sensor components which are determined based on an inclination angle indicating an inclination of the area sensor from the reference installation position and have been arranged within the area sensor, image data in which the inclination has been corrected; an image obtaining unit which obtains a plurality of frames of image data having a shift of less than one pixel, by scanning an original document image once by the sensor unit; and a high resolution conversion unit which obtains image data with a resolution higher than resolutions of the sensor components by using the obtained image data to perform interpolation processing.
