Abstract: A social networking system notifies its users of different events and actions taking place inside the social networking system. To present notifications that are most likely to be of interest to the user, the social networking system observes the interactions of the user with notifications presented to the user and suggests an option to opt-out of notifications associated with a source based on the observed interactions. The option to opt-out of notifications associated with the source may be presented if the users interactions with the notifications presented are below a threshold. Notifications associated with a social group are presented to the user based on factors describing the group and the relation between the user and other users of the social group, for example, seniority of the user, size of the group, and the rate at which user actions associated with the group are received.

Abstract: Techniques for file classification information retention are disclosed. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for file classification information retention comprising receiving an indication of creation of an email attachment, determining, using at least one computer processor, whether to extract file classification information for the email attachment, and in the event file classification information is extracted, storing the extracted file classification information in association with the email.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining or “predicting” which media content files are popular or will be popular, and based on that determination, pre-delivering or “pre-positioning” media content files to user devices automatically and without intervention from users so that the media content will be already stored on users' devices when they later select the media content for viewing. The determination of a media content file's popularity may be based on one or more combinations of content statistics (e.g., view count, viewing rate, etc.). The decision to pre-position a media content file may also be based on user profile information (e.g., viewing history). The pre-positioning may be accomplished using transport technology that avoids further burdening the network, such as delivering in real-time using available surplus network capacity.

Abstract: A message distribution system comprising an analytics system to receive an inquiry with qualifiers to generate an estimate of the number of mobile devices associated the with qualifiers, wherein the qualifiers comprise at least one characteristic associated with at least one of a mobile device, a mobile device user, or a mobile device owner, generating an estimate of the number of mobile devices associated with the qualifiers at a future time which may receive messages, and transmit the estimate of the number of mobile devices to a common campaign system. The system comprises a common campaign system to provide the qualifiers for selection, transmit the inquiry with the qualifiers to at least the analytics system to receive an estimate of the number of mobile devices associated with the qualifiers, and receive the estimate of the number of mobile devices associated with the qualifiers.

Abstract: Reliability and performance of complex applications executed across workload groups of one or more host computer systems may be improved by automating the verification of consistent policies across the workload groups. An automatic verification process may be executed on a host computer system to identify workload groups that are not collecting statistics, to identify polices that are not enforced on certain workload groups, to identify policies that are not in force for certain periods of the day, and to identify policies that are disabled. Where an application has a complex configuration, the automatic verification process allows an administrator to identify inconsistent policies.

Abstract: A throwing disc, goal apparatus, and game are provided. A disc includes a central hub with blades projecting equiangularly from the hub. The blades are circumscribed by and joined to an outer perimeter ring that aids in throwing. The blades of the disc act as airfoils and impart unique flight characteristics to the disc. A goalpost is comprised of two vertical sections, joined by a horizontal cross-bar located above the midline of the vertical sections, and supported by a rectangular frame oriented perpendicularly to the vertical sections. A scoring pad is included. The game is played by tossing the disc and attempting to pass the disc while in flight between the vertical posts and above the horizontal cross-bar of the goalpost, and landing the disc on the scoring pad.

Abstract: A method for playing a paper airplane game is disclosed. The game is played by, first, positioning a hoop within a playing environment. Next, a paper airplane is thrown towards the hoop. If the paper airplane did not pass through the hoop, the thrower move to the location of the paper airplane re-throw the paper airplane towards the hoop. This process is repeated until the paper airplane passes through the hoop.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for blocking data packets that are not desired or capable of being received. One or more data packets are received from a data server. The data packets that are addressed to a wireless device are transmitted via a gateway server. The error messages generated by either the wireless device or the gateway server are forwarded to the data server and their number also counted. When the number of error messages meets a predetermined criterion, additional data packets from the data server that are addressed to the wireless device are blocked, for example, preventing tolling the user account of the wireless device for data packets sent by the data server when the device is not available or the user no longer wants to receive the data.

Abstract: One disclosed embodiment of an electronic device includes an electronic device comprising an interface for communicating with at least one remote server, and one or more processors operably coupled to the interface and to memory, the one or more processors operable to, at least, create at least one device management object in a device management tree in memory of the electronic device, wherein a value of the at least one device management object is representative of a level of performance of a layer of a data communication protocol, establish a session of communication between the electronic device and a second location using the data communication protocol, receive, during the communication session, a device management message according to a device management protocol standard from the at least one remote server, the device management message accessing the value of the at least one device management object, and send the value of the at least one device management object to the at least one remote server.

Abstract: The present invention relates to memory to memory communication and storage for hybrid systems. Under the present invention, a data stream is received on a first computing device of a hybrid system. An attempt is made to store the data stream on the first computing device up to a per stream limit and a total storage limit of the first computing device. It is then determined whether to store at least a portion of the data stream on a second computing device of the hybrid system that is in communication with the first computing device. This decision is based on the per stream limit and the total storage limit of the first computing device as well as a per stream limit and a total storage limit of the second computing device. Thereafter, the at least a portion of the data stream and a control signal are communicated to the second computing device for storage.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for managing the flow of messages among users of a social network. One method enables the election of an entity in the social network by a person in the social network. The election indicates that the person follows the entity to receive entity electronic messages. Further, an election of the person by the entity is disabled until it is detected that the person has elected to follow the entity. Additionally, the method includes an operation for detecting the election of the entity by the person, where the person is enabled to add the entity to communication groups managed by the person after the election. The entity is enabled to follow the person after the person elects to follow the entity, and messages from the person to communication groups including the entity will reach the entity.

Abstract: A method and system of retrying to load data from a data source to a cloud target system are disclosed. A client device sends a data packet to a cloud server via a communication connection. The data packet comprises data. The client device receives an indication of a failure in the communication connection. The client device configures, in response to receiving the indication of the failure in the communication connection, the data packet to prompt the cloud server to perform an upsert operation with the data in the data packet. The client device sends the configured data packet to the cloud server. The client device can wait a predetermined amount of time before sending the configured data packet to the cloud server.

Abstract: One or more embodiments provide a system and method for DNS that is resistant to losses of network connections. In some particular embodiments, DNS servers are operated to maintain consistency of DNS records between the multiple master servers in response to connection failure. Each master DNS server monitors network connectivity by periodically testing network connections of the master server (e.g., to other master servers) to determine whether the master DNS is isolated in a manner that prevents updates from being distributed between the master DNS servers. In response to detecting network isolation of the master DNS server, the master DNS server is configured to enter the isolation mode, in which the master DNS monitors the status of connections and takes appropriate actions to update and/or recover DNS data when connections are restored.

Metadata content is stored as a source instance, the metadata content is to be utilized to provide dynamically-constructed pages of content. The metadata content is published to one or more runtime pods communicatively coupled to receive the metadata content. A request for content is received with a selected one of the one or more runtime pods. Content is provided in response to the request as a response with the selected runtime pod utilizing the metadata content published from the source instance.

Abstract: There is provided methods, devices and computer program products for distributing a plurality of virtual IEEE 802.11 wireless networks through a heterogeneous infrastructure. A terminal sends a service provider request to an access point. The service provider request is forwarded to a master server which searches for available service providers. Acknowledgement information relating to available service providers capable of operatively connecting the terminal to the data communications network via the access point is sent by the master server to the access point. The access point forwards this information to the terminal. The access point may thus distribute a plurality of virtual IEEE 802.11 wireless networks, their number only constrained by the number of distinct identifiable service providers and the memory of the master server. A data connection may be established in the absence of a direct service agreement between the service provider of the terminal and the operator of the access point.

Abstract: A method of imaging a target using a miniaturized imaging device is disclosed comprising providing a miniaturized imaging device having a stationary lens system and an imaging array, wherein the distance from a distal end of the stationary lens system to the imaging array is fixed. The miniaturized imaging device is advanced near the desired target and a distance from a distal end of the stationary lens system to the desired target is determined. A desired wavelength of light is calculated based on the determined distance from the distal end of the stationary lens system to the desired target and the desired wavelength of light is propagated onto the target.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a training apparatus for developing fundamental skill for the game of football which comprises a base pad having at least one of a hand grip and a shoulder pad, and an outer pad mounted and securely stitched to a front of the base pad. The outer pad includes a torso region and a shoulder region shaped to mimic shoulder pads of a football player. In some embodiments, the outer pad is covered with a grippable mesh material adapted to mimic a texture and form of a football jersey. The outer pad may be smaller than and fit within a perimeter of the front of the base pad, and during training, the outer pad is adapted to draw attention to the center of the training apparatus to draw hands of a training player inside the perimeter of the base pad.
